The November 2026 Rust update, called “Printed and Polished”, went live on Thursday, November 5, 2026 with the monthly force wipe. It is a big one: a full rework of how blueprints unlock, a new Uzi, a lighthouse you have to repair to open the deep sea, scientist boats patrolling the coast, a refreshed nailgun you can finally skin, and a stack of balance changes.
We built this page from roughly 3,500 commits in Facepunch’s public commit log before release, then checked every point against the official Printed and Polished patch notes on November 5. Below is everything in the update, with links to our full guide for each big feature.

When Is the Rust November 2026 Update?
Rust updates on the first Thursday of every month, which this time is Thursday, November 5, 2026. Facepunch usually pushes the update at 19:00 UTC (2 PM EST, 11 AM PST, 7 PM UK), and official servers force wipe once it is out. Our force wipe countdown shows the exact time in your timezone. Whether your server also wipes blueprints is up to the owner, which our BP wipe guide explains. With a new blueprint system, expect almost every server to start fresh.
The Halloween event (Darkness Falls) ends with this update. See our Darkness Falls recap for what you have left to grab.
Blueprint Rework: Fragments, Pages and Books
The biggest change. Since the November 5 update, tech tree nodes no longer cost scrap. Each node costs 1 blueprint item: a Blueprint Fragment on the Workbench 1 and Engineering Workbench trees, a new Blueprint Page on Workbench 2, and a Blueprint Book on Workbench 3. Ten fragments craft into a page; pages cannot become books. Scrap goes back into the workbench recipes (50 / 500 / 1,250), and the research table still takes scrap at higher prices (20 / 40 / 100 / 300, up from 15 / 30 / 60 / 120).

New Weapon: the Uzi
A 9mm SMG with a 32-round magazine and the highest fire rate of any SMG (about 12.5 rounds a second in the game data). The stock sets the fire mode: folded it is fully automatic and works with a shield, unfolded it is semi-automatic with better accuracy. Hold the fire mode button to switch. It is loot only (research and crafting are disabled) from hackable locked crates, elite crates and underwater crates. 8x scopes and burst modules don’t fit. Full guide: Uzi Rust.
Lighthouse Repair Opens the Deep Sea
Lighthouses start each wipe with a broken lamp. Bring resources and hit the lamp with a hammer (the same system as the Air Wolf helipad at Bandit Camp since October). The patch notes confirm the deep sea cycle only starts once the lighthouse is repaired: it opens immediately after the repair, then cycles as normal. All lighthouses share one repair, maps without a lighthouse start with the cycle already running, and servers with the deep sea turned off repair them automatically. The deep sea also now loads only when you enter it, saving about 260 MB of RAM. Full guide: Lighthouse Rust.
Scientist Boats Patrol the Main Island
Up to two groups of scientist PT boats and RHIBs enter the main island and patrol for up to an hour before leaving (every 5 to 8 hours in the game files). They follow the patrol heli rules and only attack geared players, and there is no map marker or notification. Facepunch also rewrote the PT boat turrets and the boats’ movement and targeting. Boats can be stolen, RHIBs carry a 20% chance of a Blueprint Page, and both PT boat 50 cals now deal 0.75x damage. Full guide: PT Boat Rust.
Nailgun Refresh and Nailgun Skins
The Nailgun got a full weapon refresh on its own branch from late August, merged into main through October:
- New model and textures for the world model and viewmodel, a detachable magazine with a drop effect, and new reload and firing animations.
- Nails visibly deplete in the magazine with each shot, and a follower rises as it empties.
- New sounds and effects (“nailgun sound refresh” on October 31, final adjustments on October 27).
- Skinnable for the first time. Commits from October 11 to 19 set the nailgun up as skinnable, add it to the in-game skin viewer and update its Workshop source model, which Workshop creators use to make skins.
That means nailgun skins can now be made on the Steam Workshop and, once Facepunch accepts some, sold in the Rust item store like any other weapon skin. None are on sale yet, so watch the weekly store and our Rust skins guide. The stats in the game data are unchanged (18 damage per nail, 16-nail magazine, Workbench 1).
Balance Changes
| Change | Details from the commits |
|---|---|
| Sprinting uses more food and water | Sprinting now burns extra calories and water. An October branch set it to +25%; the final commit on Nov 4 reduced it to +10%. |
| Tea nerf | Advanced teas about -11%, Pure and Milky about -18%, Creamy about -20% (Creamy now gives what Pure used to). Healing, crafting quality and rad removal teas are unchanged. See scrap tea, ore tea, wood tea and max health tea. |
| PT boat turrets | Front and rear 50 cals 0.75x damage (was 1); front aim cone 0.2 to 1. |
| DPV (underwater scooter) | Double acceleration, fuel use cut from 0.15 to 0.08 per second, keeps its condition when picked up, better radial menu. |
| Wool armor insert | New armor insert on the Workbench 1 tech tree: small melee and projectile protection, large cold protection (4%). |
| Modular cars in the wild | Half their engine slots come filled with locked low-quality parts at 40 to 75% condition, removable only on a car lift. |
| Uzi loot | Bolt action rifle and LR-300 weight trimmed slightly in hackable crates to make room. |
Softcore Changes
Softcore servers get several rules of their own (details in our softcore vs hardcore guide):
- Tool Cupboard limit: started at 3 and raised to 6. It works like the sleeping bag limit, with a counter and a toast when you hit it, and your TCs show on the map grouped with your bags (you can toggle them). The setting is the
max_tool_cupboardsconvar, so any server could use it. - Clans disabled, as they already are in hardcore, and the clan table is a restricted item.
- Deployable corpse system removed (it saved half your loot when raided, which Facepunch says became too strong with 2x gather and offline raid protection).
- The storage setting that lets unlocked boxes require building authorisation is turned off in softcore.
Other Changes in the November Update
- Mirrored L and U stairs: flip them with Shift + R when placing, or with the hammer within 10 minutes of placing. Stairs can also be rotated after placement, unless something is deployed on them.
- Military Tunnels: the blockers outside the monument now need explosives to break through, like the ones in front of red card rooms. See monument blockers.
- Fruit trees: apples now grow on some oak trees and coconuts on small tropical palms, and you get them by harvesting the tree.
- Livestock: a rework removes old age and simplifies ownership, adds petting, fixes cows clipping and sheep starving, and adds Shears (new tool) plus raw, cooked and spoiled lamb meat. The livestock vendor now pays Blueprint Pages. See our livestock guide.
- Crocodile Pie and Rich Crocodile Pie: the Crocodile Pie (3 wheat, 3 eggs, 2 cooked crocodile meat) is now an animal repellent pie. Wolves, bears, boars and sharks keep their distance, bee swarms won’t chase you (they can still hurt you if you walk through them), and bulls and rams won’t charge. The new Rich version adds 4 cream for a longer buff. See our Crocodile Pie guide.
- Birds: flocks of birds now fly around the map and scatter when someone comes close, which gives away players. The fast flocks can’t be shot, but seagulls resting at coastal monuments can.
- Gamepad support through Steam Input across core gameplay.
- Softcore: train car loot is doubled.
- Loot panels close automatically when you walk out of range (Gameplay, Auto Close Loot).
- Scrap King building skin for sheet metal, now in the store.
- Intel x86 Mac support is removed.
- Performance: lots of optimisation work, including the deep sea loading on demand and fixes to building block batching.
In Development, Not in This Update
These have active branches but weren’t in the November 5 update:
- M79 grenade launcher: textures, viewmodel and world model imported in early November.
- Tattoos: painting tattoos onto your character, with stencils, fading and a tattoo gun.
- Character creator: a new character customisation screen.
- Underground train network: new rooms such as a break room, security room and dorms.
- High Stakes pack: a DLC with an electronic chessboard and Russian roulette.
- Sprint rework: this wipe uses a flat 10% sprint penalty, but a commit on update day says a reworked sprint metabolism (up to 30%) is planned for next wipe.
Rust Updates in 2026
November is the eleventh monthly update this year, after Surviving 12 Years (January), Naval (February), Shipshape (March), Spring Clean (April), Upgrade Hard Raid Harder (May), Built Different (June), Common Ground (July), Power Trip (August), Breach and Clear (September) and Livestock (October). Our Rust update hub keeps the full history, and the staging branch guide shows how to try next month’s changes early.
Rust November 2026 Update FAQ
When is the Rust November 2026 update?
It went live on Thursday, November 5, 2026, together with the monthly force wipe.
What is in the Rust November 2026 update?
A blueprint rework (tech trees cost Blueprint Fragments, Pages and Books instead of scrap), the new Uzi SMG, a repairable lighthouse that opens the deep sea, scientist boats patrolling the main island, a nailgun refresh with skin support, tea and sprint balance changes, and softcore changes like a 6 TC limit.
Is the Uzi in the November update?
Yes, it is merged into the main branch with its loot spawns. It is loot only, uses pistol ammo and works with shields when the stock is folded.
Is there a new shield in the November update?
No new shield item. The news is that the Uzi works with the existing shields when its stock is folded. Facepunch also merged a shield damage analytics change, likely to track shields once the Uzi is out.
Will blueprints wipe on November 5?
Facepunch’s force wipe only forces a map wipe, but most servers wipe blueprints on force wipe day, and with a new blueprint system almost every server started fresh.
Can you get nailgun skins in Rust?
The refreshed nailgun is skinnable from this update, with a Workshop source model for creators. Skins still have to be made and accepted before any go on sale in the item store.
What is the name of the November 2026 Rust update?
It is called Printed and Polished, published by Facepunch on November 5, 2026.
