Rust Item Store: Reset Time, Prices & This Week’s Skins (2026)

Rust skins guide, 2026

Every Thursday a new batch of skins shows up in Rust, and a week later it is gone. That weekly shop is the Rust Item Store, and it is where almost every popular skin in the game started life, from garage doors to AK skins. If you have ever wondered when the store resets, why a skin you skipped now costs three times as much, or why some items you bought can never be sold, this guide has the answers.

This Rust item store guide covers what the store sells, the exact reset time in your time zone, how to buy, the current set with market prices, what happens to a skin after its week, and which store items you can trade or sell. For everything else about cosmetics, including how to apply them and the most expensive ones, see our Rust skins guide.

TL;DR The Rust Item Store is the official skin shop, inside the game (main menu, Item Store) and on Steam. A new set of limited skins goes on sale every Thursday, usually by 20:00 UTC (4 PM ET), and stays for one week. Most cost $1.99 to $3.49. After the week, the only place to buy them is the Steam Community Market. Store purchases can’t be traded or sold for 7 days. The separate permanent store and DLC packs are always on sale but can never be traded or sold. The next reset is Thursday, October 1, 2026, which is also force wipe day.

What Is the Rust Item Store?

The Rust Item Store is Facepunch’s official shop for cosmetic items. Nothing in it changes how an item works: a skinned garage door has the same HP as a plain one, and a skinned rifle has the same recoil. You pay for the look.

The store is really three shops in one:

PartWhat it sellsHow longTrade or sell?
Limited skins WeeklyCommunity-made skins picked by FacepunchOne week, Thursday to ThursdayYes, after a 7 day hold
Permanent storePremium skins and items, like the Nomad hazmat skinAlways on saleNo
DLC packsThemed sets such as Sunburn, Instruments and Voice PropsAlways on saleNo

The weekly limited skins are the part most players mean when they say “item store”. Artists submit them through the Steam Workshop, Facepunch picks a handful each week, and the artist gets a share of every sale. Once a limited skin’s week is over it never goes back on sale in the store, so the only supply left is whatever players already bought.

The permanent store arrived later. Facepunch added it to give new players a set of premium cosmetics that are always available, starting with the Nomad Suit (a hazmat suit skin), new lights, underwear and a used sofa. To keep those separate from the weekly skins, Facepunch made them untradable: they sit in your account and have no resale value.

When Does the Rust Item Store Reset?

The store resets every Thursday. The new limited set usually goes live by 20:00 UTC, and the previous week’s set leaves at the same moment. Some weeks it lands an hour or so earlier, so if you are after a specific skin from the current set, buy it before Thursday afternoon (UTC).

How to Buy From the Rust Item Store

You can buy store items in the game or on Steam. Both use your Steam account, and the item shows up in the same place either way.

How to buy from the Rust Item Store in four steps: open the Item Store, pick a skin, pay through Steam and use it
Buy from the main menu or the Steam store page, then use the skin in the craft menu or at a Repair Bench.
  1. Open the Item Store. Start Rust and click Item Store in the main menu, before you join a server. You can also open the Rust Item Store page on Steam in a browser.
  2. Pick an item. The weekly limited skins, the permanent store and the packs are all listed. Each item shows its price and a preview.
  3. Pay through Steam. Checkout goes through Steam, so you can use your Steam Wallet balance, a card or PayPal.
  4. Use it. The item goes into your Steam inventory and shows up in game. Pick the skin in the crafting menu before you craft, reskin an item you already have at a Repair Bench, or use a Spray Can on something you have already placed.

This Week’s Rust Item Store (September 24, 2026)

The set that went live on Thursday, September 24, 2026 is on sale until the October 1 reset. It leans hard on armor: a full Apotheosis of War wood armor set, the Conquest metal face mask and chest plate, and Abyss gloves. The standout is the garage door skin, which is already listed on the market for well over its store price.

Market prices move every day, and prices during a skin’s store week are based on thin early listings, so treat them as a snapshot, not a forecast.

How Much Do Rust Item Store Skins Cost?

Facepunch sets a fixed price for each item for its week in the store. Most limited skins cost between $1.99 and $3.49. Big deployables like garage doors and furnaces tend to sit at the top of that range, while clothing and small items sit at the bottom. Packs and some premium permanent items cost more, often $9.99 or above.

Which Store Items Can You Trade or Sell?

This is the part that catches people out. Only the weekly limited skins become normal tradable items. Everything from the permanent store and every DLC pack is locked to your account forever.

What Happens After a Skin Leaves the Store

When the week ends, the skin disappears from the store and the Steam Community Market becomes the only place to buy it. From then on the price is set by players, not Facepunch.

After the Rust Item Store week: a 7 day trade hold on store buys, a 15% Steam Market fee, and prices set by players
Missed a skin? The market is the only place left to get it.
  • 7 day trade hold. Anything you buy from the store can’t be traded or listed on the market for 7 days after you buy it.
  • 15% market fee. Every sale on the Steam Community Market loses 15% to fees, so a skin has to rise well above its store price before selling it makes a profit.
  • Supply is fixed. Nobody can buy a new copy from the store once the week is over. Popular skins that sold few copies climb; skins that sold a lot, or that nobody wanted, often fall below their store price.

A few store skins have gone on to become some of the most valuable items in the game. The Punishment Mask, pulled from the store within hours in 2016, had a cheapest listing of around $2,250 in late September 2026. That is the rare exception: most skins end up worth less than you paid. To total up the skins you already own, see our Rust inventory value guide.

Recent Rust Item Store Sets

Here are the headline skins from the last few weekly sets and their lowest Steam Market listing on September 29, 2026.

Store dateHeadline skinsMarket (Sep 29)
September 17, 2026Salvation SAR, Apotheosis of War Locker, Young Dragon Garage Door, Project Nova Bed$3.53, $2.55, $2.46, $2.17
September 10, 2026Electric Furnace from Hell, Endgame Armored Door, Popstar Tactical Gloves$3.41, $2.28, $2.55
September 3, 2026Salvation Thompson, Endgame Metal Double Door, Valkyrie SAP, Project Nova Shopfront$5.29, $3.36, $2.74, $2.71
August 27, 2026Metal Shopfront from Hell, Endgame Metal Door, Popstar SKS$3.15, $2.36, $2.22

The pattern is clear: door, shopfront and furnace skins that glow or have a strong theme hold their value best, and weapon skins from a popular set (Salvation, for example) do well too. If you use a double door or armored door on every base, those are the skins you will actually see the most.

Rust Item Store Tips

Six Rust Item Store buying tips: buy what you use, check the market, Thursday evenings, the 7 day hold, permanent items are final and reskinning with a Spray Can
Six rules that save money in the item store.
  1. Buy what you’ll use. Treat store skins as cosmetics, not investments. Most end up cheaper on the market than in the store.
  2. Check the market first. Older skins for the same item are often under $1 on the Steam Community Market.
  3. Know the reset. The new set lands Thursday, usually by 20:00 UTC. Anything you want from the current set has to be bought before then.
  4. Mind the 7 day hold. You can’t sell or trade a store purchase for a week, so you can’t flip a skin on day one.
  5. Permanent means permanent. Permanent store items and packs can never be sold, so only buy them if you want them for keeps.
  6. Reskin without crafting again. A Repair Bench changes the skin on an item in your inventory, and a Spray Can reskins items you have already placed, like doors and boxes.

Do store skins change how an item works?

No. Skins are cosmetic only. A skinned door has the same HP and raid cost as a plain one, and a skinned weapon has the same damage and recoil.
