The Semi-Automatic Rifle is the gun most Rust players carry for the longest stretch of a wipe, so it is no surprise it has one of the deepest skin catalogs in the game. There are 185 SAR skins, and on November 6, 2026 more than 22,000 copies of them were listed for sale across the Steam Market and the big skin sites.

This page ranks the best SAR skins in Rust by what players actually buy and hold: copies for sale on every market, the cheapest real price, and where each one came from. The 15 Best SAR Skins in Rust (by Popularity)

“Best” is a matter of taste, so we rank by the closest thing to a vote: how many copies of each skin are listed for sale across every market. A skin with a thousand listings is one a lot of players bought, kept and now trade. It also means you can always find one near the lowest price. The cheapest price is the lowest listing on any of the markets tracked; the Steam column is the lowest Steam Market listing, which is usually higher because of Steam’s fees.

Prices and listings: November 6, 2026. “In store” is the month the skin reached the Rust item store; “Older” means it was added before the store records in our data begin (December 2019). Artist names are the Steam Workshop creators.

A few things stand out. All of the top five are from 2022 or later, so new SAR skins sell in big numbers when they hit the store and stay popular. The Tribal Alloy SAR is part of a matching Tribal Alloy line that also covers the P250 and AK, which helps it sell. The Heat Seeker SAR is the priciest skin in the top five because it is part of a popular matching set too, with Heat Seeker versions of the MP5 and SKS. And the only pre-2020 skins that still make the list, No Mercy and Urban Light, are the ones veterans have kept for years.

Most Expensive SAR Skins

SAR skins are cheap next to the most expensive Rust skins, which run into the hundreds and thousands of dollars. The priciest SAR skin with real supply costs less than $15. We only count skins with at least five copies for sale, so one seller’s wishful price can’t top the list.

The pattern matches the rest of the Rust market: age and glow drive price. All of the top seven came out before 2022, and three of them glow. Store skins are only sold for a limited time, so the older a skin is, the fewer new copies enter the market.

Glow SAR Skins

Six SAR skins with market listings have glowing parts that light up in the dark. They are the most eye-catching SAR skins at night, and that is both the point and the catch: on a dark raid, a glowing rifle is easier for the other team to spot.

• Glory SAR: $14.20, 74 for sale. The most expensive SAR skin, from a matching Glory set that includes the Glory AK47.
• Gold Phoenix SAR: $3.60, only 30 for sale, the rarest glow SAR.
• Drake SAR: $3.22, 80 for sale.
• SAR from Hell: $0.83, 162 for sale.
• Zombie SAR: $0.55, 155 for sale. The cheapest glow SAR, tied with the Scarecrow.
• SAR Scarecrow: $0.55, 90 for sale.

Best Cheap SAR Skins (Under $1)

You don’t need to spend much. 128 of the 164 SAR skins with listings had a cheapest price under $1 on November 6, 2026, and the median was just $0.62. These are the most popular ones (at least 90 copies for sale) at the lowest prices:

The Pirate SAR is the best value in the whole list: the sixth most popular SAR skin overall for about 63 cents. The Dominus Mortis SAR matches the famous Dominus Mortis LR-300 set, at a fraction of the price.

The Newest Popular SAR Skins (2025-2026)

Facepunch adds new weapon skins to the store every week, and the SAR gets a new one every few weeks. These are the best-selling SAR skins added since January 2025:

1. Tribal Alloy SAR: June 2026, 1,029 for sale, $1.46. The most popular SAR skin of all.
2. Heat Seeker SAR: May 2025, 870 for sale, $3.18.
3. HellCore SAR: January 2026, 471 for sale, $2.73.
4. Black Ops SAR: February 2025, 269 for sale, $0.97.
5. Hellborn SAR: June 2025, 253 for sale, $0.85.
6. Popstar SAR: May 2025, 230 for sale, $1.72.
7. Fault SAR: October 2025, 229 for sale, $0.56.
8. Nuke Vibe SAR: October 2025, 211 for sale, $0.92.

Twitch Drop SAR Skins

19 SAR skins were given out as Rust Twitch drops, earned by watching streamers during a drop event. None of them had a market listing on November 6, 2026, so the only way to get one is to watch during the event or trade with someone who has one.

The full list: Rust Isles, Silithur, Twitch Rustmas, NmpLol x Misterarther, Twitch Rivals, Auron, hJune, Krolay, TheGrefg, Panpots & IsVolcano, Coma, TrakasSinN, Alexby, Anthric, xQc (glows), bchillz, Blooprint, etoleto and iRiskpvp. Two more SAR skins, Charitable Rust 2022 and Charitable Rust 2024, came from the yearly charity event and also had no listings.

How to Pick a SAR Skin

Since every skin is cosmetic, picking one comes down to a few practical points:

• Matching sets. Tribal Alloy, Heat Seeker, Redemption, Blackout, Tempered and Black Ops all have versions for other guns. If you already own the AK or MP5 version, the SAR one makes your kit match.
• Dark vs bright. Dark skins like Blackout, OPS and Black Ops stay low-key. Bright and glowing skins look better on stream and in screenshots but stand out at night.
• Price stability. Skins with hundreds of listings, like the top ten, hold a steady price and are easy to sell later. Rare skins with few listings can swing a lot.

How to Apply a SAR Skin

1. Get the skin into your Steam inventory. Buy it on the Steam Market, in the Rust item store, or trade for it.
2. Pick it when you craft. In the crafting menu, select the Semi-Automatic Rifle and choose the skin before you craft it.
3. Or reskin one you already have. Put the SAR in a Repair Bench and pick the skin from the list. Reskinning is free.
4. Done. The skin shows for everyone on the server, and the rifle keeps exactly the same damage, fire rate and recoil.

Where to Buy SAR Skins

The Steam Community Market is the safest place and had about 6,400 of the 22,451 SAR skin listings, but its prices are usually 30 to 50 percent higher than skin sites because of Steam’s 15 percent fee and Steam-wallet-only payouts. On November 6, 2026 the cheapest copy of each top-15 SAR skin was most often on Lis-Skins, Skinport, CS.Deals or RapidSkins.
