The MP5A4 is the SMG most Rust players reach for once they hit Workbench 3, and it has a big skin catalog to match. There are 103 MP5 skins, and on November 6, 2026 more than 10,400 copies of them were listed for sale across the Steam Market and the big skin sites.
This page ranks the best MP5 skins in Rust by what players actually buy and hold: copies for sale on every market, the cheapest real price, and who made each one. You will also find the most expensive MP5 skins (one of them sells for hundreds of dollars), the best ones under $1, the newest releases, the Twitch drop MP5 skins you can’t buy, and how to put a skin on your gun.
The 15 Best MP5 Skins in Rust (by Popularity)
“Best” is a matter of taste, so we rank by the closest thing to a vote: how many copies of each skin are listed for sale across every market. A skin with hundreds of listings is one a lot of players bought, kept and now trade, and you can always find one near the lowest price. “Cheapest” is the lowest listing on any market we track; “Steam” is the lowest Steam Market listing, which is usually higher because of Steam’s fees.
| # | MP5 skin | For sale | Cheapest | Steam | In store | Workshop artist |

Prices and listings: November 6, 2026. “In store” is the month the skin reached the Rust item store; “Older” means it was added before the store records in our data begin (December 2019), with the Workshop year where we know it. Artist names are the Steam Workshop creators.
Three things stand out. First, the Heat Seeker MP5 is in a league of its own: 906 copies for sale, more than the next two skins combined. It is part of the Heat Seeker set with matching SAR and SKS versions. Second, sets matter on the MP5 too: HellCore, Blackout and No Mercy are also in our SAR top 15, and Popstar and Fault have SAR versions as well. Third, one pre-2017 skin, the Tempered MP5, sits in the top ten by supply even though it costs hundreds of dollars, which tells you how many players have held on to it since 2016.
Most Expensive MP5 Skins
Unlike most guns, the MP5 has a few skins that sit next to the most expensive Rust skins overall. They are four of the oldest weapon skins in Rust, made on the Steam Workshop in November 2016, and store skins are only sold for a limited time, so the supply is small and fixed. We only count skins with at least five copies for sale, so one seller’s wishful price can’t top the list.
| # | MP5 skin | Cheapest | Steam | For sale | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tempered MP5 | $360.83 | $574.94 | 275 | Workshop Nov 2016 by Milho Frito |
| 2 | Military Camo MP5 | $182.42 | $223.11 | 76 | Workshop Nov 2016 |
| 3 | Digital Camo MP5 | $98.80 | $128.92 | 81 | Workshop Nov 2016 |
| 4 | Polymer MP5 | $37.29 | $41.99 | 70 | Workshop Nov 2016 by Krovv |
| 5 | Cold Hunter MP5 | $9.47 | $14.07 | 41 | Older skin |
| 6 | Tank MP5 | $9.00 | $13.61 | 28 | Older skin |
| 7 | Cyber Core MP5 | $5.15 | $7.67 | 69 | Dec 2024 |
| 8 | Blackout MP5 | $4.82 | $6.46 | 238 | Nov 2022 |
The pattern is simple: age drives price. The top four came out in November 2016, the top six are all from before 2020, and the only recent skins on the list are Cyber Core and Blackout. If you see a Tempered or Military Camo MP5 offered far below these prices, treat it as a scam until proven otherwise. A live check of the Steam Market on November 7, 2026 had the Tempered MP5 at $570.63, so the price is steady.
Best Cheap MP5 Skins (Under $1)
You don’t need to spend much. 38 of the 81 MP5 skins with listings had a cheapest price under $1 on November 6, 2026. These are the most popular ones (at least 100 copies for sale) at the lowest prices:
| MP5 skin | Cheapest | For sale | In store |
|---|---|---|---|
| Celestial Coil MP5 | $0.54 | 125 | Jan 2025 |
| Solar MP5 | $0.58 | 129 | Jan 2022 |
| Ditto MP5 | $0.60 | 110 | May 2024 |
| Vandal MP5 | $0.61 | 180 | Jun 2026 |
| Poseidon MP5 | $0.61 | 132 | Oct 2021 |
| Vortex MP5 | $0.62 | 116 | Apr 2022 |
| Glister MP5 | $0.63 | 165 | Dec 2021 |
| Fault MP5 | $0.69 | 186 | Oct 2025 |
The Vandal MP5 and Fault MP5 are the best value here: both are in the overall top 15 by popularity and cost well under a dollar. The Fault also has a matching SAR version.

Twitch Drop MP5 Skins
21 MP5 skins were given out as Rust Twitch drops, earned by watching streamers during a drop event. None of them had a market listing on November 6, 2026, so the only way to get one is to watch during the event.
The full list: Sykkuno, Disguised Toast, Ricoy, FancyOrb, Oilrats, Ledoo, R3crutaTV, Tanizen, Agustabell212, Aroyitt, hJune, elbanan0, MarkPlayz, Terpsicat, Hutnik, PyrooTv, deathwingua, Lifestomper, Albin, Warrior and Sinks. One more, the Charitable Rust 2023 MP5, came from the yearly charity event and also had no listings.
How to Pick an MP5 Skin
Since every skin is cosmetic, picking one comes down to a few practical points:
- Matching sets. Heat Seeker, HellCore, Blackout, No Mercy, Popstar and Fault all have SAR versions, and some have AK or SKS versions too. If you already own one, the MP5 version makes your kit match.
- Dark vs bright. Dark skins like Blackout, Black Gold and Commando stay low-key in close fights. Bright skins like Comics, Popstar and Heat Seeker look better on stream and in screenshots.
- Price stability. Skins with hundreds of listings, like the top ten, hold a steady price and are easy to sell later. Rare skins with few listings can swing a lot.
- Investment skins. The 2016 skins (Tempered, Military Camo, Digital Camo, Polymer) are bought as much to hold as to use. Our Rust inventory value guide shows how to check what your skins are worth.
How to Apply an MP5 Skin
- Get the skin into your Steam inventory. Buy it on the Steam Market, in the Rust item store, or trade for it.
- Pick it when you craft. In the crafting menu, select the MP5A4 and choose the skin before you craft it.
- Or reskin one you already have. Put the MP5 in a Repair Bench and pick the skin from the list. Reskinning is free.
- Done. The skin shows for everyone on the server, and the gun keeps exactly the same damage, fire rate and recoil.
Where to Buy MP5 Skins
The Steam Community Market is the safest place and had about 2,650 of the 10,465 MP5 skin listings, but its prices are usually 30 to 50 percent higher than skin sites because of Steam’s 15 percent fee and Steam-wallet-only payouts. On November 6, 2026 the cheapest copy of each top-15 MP5 skin was most often on Skinport, Lis-Skins, ShadowPay, CS.Deals or RapidSkins.
Before you buy on a third-party site, read our where to buy Rust skins guide and the comparison of Rust skin trading sites. This matters most for the expensive 2016 skins: never log in to a site through a link someone sends you, and check the trade offer before you accept it.
