Dracula Cape Rust: How to Get It, Craft Cost, Stats & Price (2026)

Rust clothing guide, 2026

The Dracula Cape is the most dramatic piece of clothing in Rust. It is a long red-lined vampire cape with a high collar, a waistcoat and a white shirt, and the cape actually moves in the wind as you run. Under the costume, though, it is a plain Jacket: same slot, same recipe, same protection.

This Dracula Cape Rust guide covers how to get it, what it costs on the Item Store and the Steam Market, how to craft it, its exact stats next to the Jacket, Snow Jacket and Road Sign Jacket, what it recycles into, how to build the full Dracula outfit, and where it fits in the Halloween event.

TL;DR The Dracula Cape is a Halloween Item Store skin that replaces the Jacket. Once it is in your Steam inventory you can craft it on any server for 50 cloth and 2 sewing kits at a Workbench Level 1. It sits in the outer chest slot and gives 15% bullet, 20% melee and 10% cold protection, exactly like a Jacket. It sold for $5.99 in the 2024 Halloween store and copies trade for about $3 to $4 on the Steam Market. A monument recycler turns one into 30 cloth and a sewing kit.

What Is the Dracula Cape in Rust?

The Dracula Cape is a Halloween themed replacement for the Jacket (the vagabond style jacket every player can craft). Facepunch calls it a “Halloween themed replacement for the Vagabond Jacket which flows in the wind”, and that is exactly what it is. It is not a workshop skin you apply to a Jacket. It is its own item with its own name, draculacape, and its own entry in the crafting menu.

It first appeared in the 2023 Halloween event as a limited drop, then came back in Halloween 2024 as a paid item on the limited Item Store, sold next to the matching Dracula Mask. Because it is a store item, it works like other Rust skins: you buy it once, and it stays yours across every wipe and every server.

How to Get the Dracula Cape in Rust

You need the cape in your Steam inventory before the game will let you craft it. There are two ways to get it there.

How to get the Dracula Cape in Rust: buy it from the limited Rust Item Store during Halloween for 5.99 dollars, buy a copy on the Steam Community Market for about 3 to 4 dollars, then craft it in game from 50 cloth and 2 sewing kits at Workbench 1
Buy it once, then craft it on any server.

The Rust Item Store (Halloween)

The cape is a limited store item. It was sold during the 2024 Halloween event for $5.99, alongside the Dracula Mask. Limited items only show up while their event is running, which for Halloween is usually the last week of October into early November. Our Rust Item Store guide explains when the store resets and how limited items work. Store purchases carry a 7 day trade hold before you can sell or trade them.

The Steam Community Market

The Dracula Cape is tradable and marketable, so you can buy one from another player at any time of year. Listings have recently sat at about $3 to $4, which is cheaper than the original store price. Market prices move, so check the listing before you buy. If you sell one, Steam takes about 15%.

Good to know Buying the cape does not drop a cape into your game. It unlocks the recipe. You still have to craft each cape with cloth and sewing kits, and you lose it like any other item when you die or when the server wipes.

Dracula Cape Craft Cost

The cape uses the Jacket’s recipe exactly. There is no scrap cost and no blueprint fragment.

The sewing kits are the real cost. Two kits is the same price as a Road Sign Kilt, and every serious armor piece needs kits too, so early in a wipe a cape competes with your armor. Our rope guide covers the cheap ways to keep sewing kits coming.

Dracula Cape Stats

The cape gives exactly the same protection as a Jacket: 15% bullet, 20% melee, 7% bite, 5% radiation and 10% cold. It is a cosmetic, so there is no buff for owning it.

Dracula Cape stats compared in Rust: the Dracula Cape and the Jacket both give 15% bullet, 20% melee and 10% cold, the Snow Jacket gives 20% bullet, 30% melee and 30% cold, and the Road Sign Jacket gives 20% bullet, 25% melee and minus 8% cold

Snow Jacket20%30%30%
Road Sign Jacket20%25%-8%

The cape takes the outer chest slot. That is the same slot as the Snow Jacket, Road Sign Jacket and Metal Chest Plate, so you can only wear one of them. A Hoodie or shirt still fits underneath. For full protection numbers on every chest piece, see the Rust armor guide and the Rust clothing guide.

How to Make a Dracula Outfit in Rust

The cape already includes a waistcoat, shirt and bow tie in its model, so most of the look is done for you. Add the head and keep the rest dark.

The cape, the mask and soft layers under them.
  • Head: the Dracula Mask, the matching Halloween store item.
  • Chest: a Hoodie under the cape for 20% bullet protection.
  • Legs: Pants, plus a Road Sign Kilt if you want leg armor.
  • Hands and feet: Tactical Gloves and Boots.

This makes a decent roaming kit for early wipe, but it is weaker than real armor. For raids and monument fights, swap the cape for a chest plate.

Can You Recycle the Dracula Cape?

Yes. A spare or looted cape breaks down like a Jacket.

Recycling the Dracula Cape in Rust: a monument recycler returns 30 cloth and 1 sewing kit with a 20% chance of a second kit, and a safe zone recycler returns 20 cloth and an 80% chance of a sewing kit

Use a monument recycler when you can. Recycling destroys only the in-game copy. The cape in your Steam inventory stays, so you can craft another.

The Dracula Cape and the Rust Halloween Event

The cape belongs to Rust’s yearly Halloween event. In 2024 the event ran from late October to early November and brought the limited store items, free event masks and a few new systems.

Rust Halloween event items: Dracula Cape and Dracula Mask in the limited store, the Frankenstein Table for a monster pet, Mummies and Scarecrows as event enemies, the free Frankenstein Mask, Halloween loot bags from the candy hunt and the Pumpkin Bucket
What else turns up during Halloween.
  • Dracula Cape and Dracula Mask: the paid limited store items.
  • Frankenstein’s monster: kill Scarecrows and Mummies for body parts, put them in a Frankenstein Table, and wake a monster pet that follows and defends you.
  • Free masks: the Frankenstein and Mummy masks dropped from event enemies.
  • Candy hunt: a short timed event where the top players win Halloween loot bags.

Event content changes a little every year, so treat this as what to expect rather than a promise. The cape itself does not depend on the event: once you own it, you can craft it all year.

Dracula Cape Tips

Dracula Cape tips in Rust: it is a skin and not armor, swap it for a chest plate before a fight, wear a Snow Jacket in the snow, budget the 2 sewing kits, buy it on the Steam Market for less, and recycle spares into cloth
Six quick tips.
  1. It is a skin, not armor. 15% bullet protection is the same as a Jacket. Do not expect it to win fights.
  2. Swap it before a fight. A Metal Chest Plate or Road Sign Jacket uses the same slot and blocks a lot more.
  3. Use a Snow Jacket in the snow. 30% cold protection beats the cape’s 10%.
  4. Budget the sewing kits. Two kits per cape adds up when your armor needs them too.
  5. Buy it on the Market. It has usually been cheaper there than the original store price.
  6. Recycle spares. A looted cape is 30 cloth and a sewing kit.
