Updated for 2026

Rust monuments are the only reason to leave your base, and most players run them in exactly the wrong order. They go where the loot looks best instead of where the progression actually is, and then wonder why they are still stuck on a Tier 1 workbench four days into a wipe.

That got a lot more punishing in October 2025. Facepunch rebuilt how workbenches unlock, and the answer is now sitting behind monument puzzle doors rather than in your scrap pile. You do not craft your way to Tier 3 any more. You loot your way there.

This guide covers every monument in the game, what tier each one sits at, which keycards and fuses you need to carry, how much radiation protection each one demands, where the recyclers are, and the exact route that gets a solo from a beach spawn to a Tier 3 workbench fastest.

TL;DR There are roughly 60 monuments on a standard Rust map, split into safe zones, roadside stops, small, medium and large monuments, plus oceanside and offshore sites. Since the Meta Shift update on 2 October 2025, workbenches need Blueprint Fragments: 5 Basic for Workbench 2 and 5 Advanced for Workbench 3. Basic fragments are guaranteed in green puzzle rooms (x1) and blue puzzle rooms (x2). Advanced fragments are guaranteed in hackable crates, always in pairs. The keycard chain runs green to blue to red, every puzzle needs an Electric Fuse, and almost every puzzle room resets in about 30 minutes. Launch Site is the biggest monument in the game at 77 crates and 64 barrels. Military Tunnel is the deadliest with 33 scientists.

What Are Monuments in Rust?

A monument is a pre built location placed on the map by the world generator. Every procedural map gets a selection of them, scattered along the road network and the coastline, and they are where the game keeps everything you cannot farm from a tree or a rock: components, weapons, blueprints, keycards, scrap and fuel.

Monuments do three jobs. They hold loot, in barrels, crates and locked puzzle rooms. They hold machines you cannot easily build early, like recyclers, refineries and research tables. And they hold progression, in the form of keycards and Blueprint Fragments that gate your workbench level.

They are also the reason Rust has a PvP loop at all. Nobody fights over a rock. People fight over the one recycler at Launch Site, the hackable crate on Oil Rig, and the red card door at Military Tunnel. A monument is a resource with a queue, and that queue is where wipes are won.

Every monument sits inside a no build zone, so you cannot wall one off and own it. Launch Site alone covers just over 92,000 square metres of unbuildable ground. That rule is what keeps monuments contested for the whole wipe instead of being claimed on day one.

Every Rust Monument, by Category

Here is the full list as the game itself categorises them. Roadside and small monuments are your first week. Large monuments are where the wipe is decided.

CategoryMonuments
LargeAirfield, Giant Excavator Pit, Launch Site, Military Tunnel, Power Plant, Train Yard, Water Treatment Plant
MediumAbandoned Military Base, Arctic Research Base, Nuclear Missile Silo, Sewer Branch, The Dome
SmallAbandoned Cabins, Junkyard, Satellite Dish, Jungle Ziggurat, Jungle Ruins A to E, HQM Quarry, Stone Quarry, Sulfur Quarry, Water Wells A to E
RoadsideAbandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost, Oxum’s Gas Station, Radtown
Safe zonesOutpost, Bandit Camp, Apartment Complex, Fishing Village A to C, Ranch, Large Barn
OceansideFerry Terminal, Harbor Large, Harbor Small, Lighthouse
OffshoreOil Rig, Large Oil Rig, Underwater Labs
Deep seaFloating Cities 1 to 4, Ghost Ships A to D, Tropical Islands 1 to 4

Not every monument on that list appears on every map. The generator picks based on map size and biome, so a 3000 map might get one harbor and no Launch Site, while a 4500 map gets the lot. Quarries, water wells and jungle ruins are the ones that vary most.

The Jungle and Deep Sea Additions Jungle Ziggurat and the five Jungle Ruins arrived with the Jungle update in May 2025. They sit in the jungle biome, have no radiation and no scientists, and a naked player can loot them safely. Floating Cities, Ghost Ships and Tropical Islands came with the deep sea content and only matter once you own a boat.

Rust Monument Tiers Explained

Monument tier is a loot quality band, not an official difficulty rating, and it tells you what class of items spawn there. Higher tier means better crates and more of them, and it almost always means more radiation, more scientists and more people.

Rust monument tier list showing tier 1 roadside monuments, tier 2 medium monuments and tier 3 monuments including Launch Site, Military Tunnel and Power Plant
Tier is a loot band, not a difficulty score. The jump that costs people is Tier 2 to Tier 3.
TierMonumentsWhat You Get
Tier 1 Naked safeAbandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost, Oxum’s Gas Station, Lighthouse, Junkyard, Jungle Ziggurat, Jungle Ruins, Abandoned CabinsBarrels, basic crates, low grade fuel, food. No radiation worth naming, no scientists. This is your first hour.
Tier 2The Dome, Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, Harbor Large and Small, Ferry Terminal, Radtown, Water Treatment Plant, Train Yard, Airfield, Arctic Research Base, Abandoned Military BaseMilitary crates, components, green and blue keycards, Basic Blueprint Fragments. Clothing is usually enough, a hazmat is better.
Tier 3Launch Site, Military Tunnel, Power Plant, Nuclear Missile Silo, Giant Excavator PitElite crates, red keycards, Advanced Blueprint Fragments, guns you would not otherwise see this wipe. Hazmat mandatory almost everywhere.

Two monuments break the pattern. Giant Excavator Pit carries Tier 1, 2 and 3 loot at once because it is really a resource machine with crates attached. And Water Treatment Plant is the outlier that everyone should know about: it runs a blue card puzzle that pays out a red keycard, and its median radiation is zero. It is the cheapest red card in the game.

Tier Does Not Mean Workbench A common misread is that a “Tier 3 monument” gives you a Tier 3 workbench. It does not. Monument tier describes loot. Workbench level is unlocked separately, and since October 2025 that runs on Blueprint Fragments. No monument in the game contains a public Workbench 2 or Workbench 3.

Blueprint Fragments: Why Monuments Matter Now

This is the part most older monument guides have not caught up with, and it changes which monuments are worth your evening.

The Meta Shift update on 2 October 2025 put workbench progression behind two new items. To craft a Workbench Level 2 you need 5 Basic Blueprint Fragments. To craft a Workbench Level 3 you need 5 Advanced Blueprint Fragments. Facepunch cut the scrap cost of both benches at the same time, so scrap is no longer the bottleneck. Fragments are.

Rust blueprint fragments chart showing five basic fragments for workbench 2 and five advanced fragments for workbench 3 with where each type spawns
Five and five. Everything else about your wipe timeline follows from those two numbers.
FragmentGuaranteed InAlso Found In
Basic Workbench 2Green puzzle rooms (x1), blue puzzle rooms next to the red keycard (x2)Medium and large monuments, airdrops, military crates, large underwater crates, junkpile scientists, roadside metal detecting
Advanced Workbench 3Hackable crates, always in pairs1 in 10 elite crates, Launch Site, Military Tunnel, Nuclear Missile Silo, Underwater Labs, both oil rigs, Cargo Ship, CH47 drops

Read those two rows again, because the route falls straight out of them. Five green puzzles gets you a Workbench 2. Three blue puzzles does the same job faster, because blue rooms pay two fragments each. And because a hackable crate is a guaranteed pair of advanced fragments, three hackable crates is a Workbench 3, which is why Small Oil Rig has become the single most contested monument on most servers.

If you are short and impatient, you can convert 20 Basic Fragments into 1 Advanced. That is a deliberately bad rate. It exists so a group that cannot fight for a rig is not permanently locked out, not because anyone should plan around it.

The Practical Version Run Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, Harbor, Radtown, Ferry Terminal and the Dome for green puzzles. That is six Basic Fragments from six cheap rooms, and you only needed five. Then take the blue cards those rooms hand you to Water Treatment Plant and Train Yard for red cards, and start hunting hackable crates.

Rust Monument Puzzles and Keycards

Almost every worthwhile monument has a locked room, and the key to all of them is the same two items: a keycard and an Electric Fuse. The fuse powers the puzzle and is destroyed on use. The card is swiped at a reader and survives many uses.

The chain is deliberately circular. A green card opens a room that contains a blue card. A blue card opens a room that contains a red card. Red cards open the endgame rooms and are never sold by any vendor.

Carry a spare fuse. Almost every failed monument run is a missing fuse, not a missing card.

Three of those green puzzles are new. Facepunch added green keycard rooms to The Dome, Ferry Terminal and Radtown in the same October 2025 update that introduced fragments, specifically so that mid sized monuments were worth visiting again. If a guide does not list those three, it predates the change.

Where to Get Each Card Green is buyable for 15 scrap from the Scrap 4 Sale vendor at Bandit Camp, and it also spawns at low tier monuments. Blue is buyable for 100 scrap at Outpost, or free from any green puzzle room. Red is not sold anywhere and only comes out of a blue puzzle room. Vendor prices drift because NPC pricing has been dynamic since July 2024. Full detail in our green keycard, blue keycard and red keycard guides.

Which Rust Monuments Need a Hazmat Suit

Radiation is delivered as invisible spheres layered around and inside a monument, and the numbers are smaller than the reputation suggests. Most of the map is survivable in clothing. A handful of interiors are not survivable in anything.

Nuclear Missile Silo25 and climbing undergroundHazmat plus pills for the lower levels
Power Plant0 / 52Hazmat required. The broken cooling tower out radiates it.
Launch Site11 / 52Hazmat required. The Vehicle Assembly Building out radiates it.

Two rooms in procedurally generated Rust beat a full Hazmat Suit: the Vehicle Assembly Building at Launch Site and the broken cooling tower at Power Plant. Both are still looted constantly, because you do not need to survive them forever, you need about thirty seconds. Sprint in, grab, sprint out, and take an Anti Radiation Pill on the way home.

The detail that kills people is that radiation poisoning does not stop when you leave the zone. It stays in your system and keeps draining health on the road home. Plenty of players escape Launch Site and die in a field two grids away.

Monument Loot and Danger Table

This is the table to bookmark. Crate and barrel counts are the maximum a monument can hold, scientist counts are what actually shoots at you, and the recycler column decides whether you carry components home or process them on site.

Launch Site is the biggest loot pile in Rust and nothing else is close. Seventy seven crates and sixty four barrels across a monument the size of a small town, guarded by only eight scientists. The reason it is not farmed constantly is the Bradley APC patrolling the runway and the fact that half of it sits in radiation the suit barely covers.

Military Tunnel is the opposite trade. Eighteen crates, but thirty three scientists in a confined concrete corridor, and they are the aggressive variant rather than the lazy patrol type. It is the hardest monument in the game to clear solo and the best one to hold as a group of three.

Barrels Are Not Filler Harbor Large has 45 barrels and 11 crates. Those barrels are where the components come from, and components are where scrap comes from. Early wipe, a barrel route around a harbor beats a crate route around a big monument, and nobody contests it.

Monuments With a Recycler

About 29 recyclers spawn on a standard map across 22 monuments. The two safe zone machines run at 40% return over 8 seconds. Every other machine in the game runs at 60% over 5 seconds, which is a third more scrap for the same stack of gears.

NoneBoth oil rigs, Cargo Ship, Nuclear Missile Silo, Fishing Village, Ranch, Large Barn, Apartment Complex

The Dome is the newest name on that list. It had no recycler for years, and the one it has now sits behind the green card puzzle door added in October 2025, so you need a card and a fuse to reach it. Any guide still saying the Dome has no recycler is describing the old monument.

The three worth memorising are Mining Outpost, Oxum’s Gas Station and Abandoned Supermarket. No radiation, no puzzle, no scientists, almost no traffic, and they pay the full 60%. There is rarely a reason to walk past one of those to queue at Outpost. Our recycler guide has the full return chart for every component.

Safe Zone Monuments

Safe zones are monuments where player damage is disabled and NPC sentries shoot anyone who opens fire. They are where you buy, sell, research and repair, and they are the only monuments you can stand still in.

Rust safe zone monuments compared showing Outpost, Bandit Camp, Apartment Complex, Fishing Village and Ranch amenities
Five safe zones, five different jobs. Only two of them recycle, and both do it badly.
Safe ZoneWhat It HasGo There For
OutpostTwo Level 1 workbenches, 3 recyclers, research table, repair bench, small oil refinery, drone marketplace, vending machines, mission NPCsRefining crude, blue keycards, missions, buying your first refinery

Apartment Complex NewRentable apartments and shops, free repair bench and research table, drone market, playground, rail entranceStoring loot somewhere unraidable, running a shop
Fishing VillageBoat vendor, fishing gear, small shopBoats, and nothing else
Ranch and Large BarnHorses, stables, shopkeeperHorses and early game trades

The Apartment Complex is the newest monument in Rust, added in the Common Ground update on 2 July 2026. It rents you a room that cannot be raided conventionally, in three sizes, paid through a wall slot with a 24 hour eviction timer if you miss rent. It also rents 14 vending shops for a 100 scrap deposit and 10 scrap an hour.

Apartments Are Not Actually Safe Anyone can buy an Apartment Key for 1,000 scrap and get five minutes of access to a room. During that window the room becomes a combat zone and PvP is enabled inside it, and a public computer station lets thieves see which rooms are worth robbing before they spend the scrap. Treat an apartment as convenient storage, not a vault.

Oil Rigs, Underwater Labs and Deep Sea

Water monuments need a boat, a submarine or a helicopter to reach, and none of them have a recycler, so everything you take comes home raw.

Oil Rig (the small one) has four above water levels plus a moonpool entrance, 15 blue scientists, and a hackable crate on Level 4. Starting the hack begins a 15 minute countdown, sets off sirens the whole rig can hear, and calls in a Chinook that drops 5 heavy scientists. Heavies take five headshots instead of three.

Large Oil Rig is seven levels, 23 blue scientists, and the same 15 minute crate on Level 6, except the Chinook brings 10 heavies instead of five. Level 6 also holds a red keycard room with seven containers behind it. Scientists respawn about 24 minutes after they die, so a slow rig clear turns into a second fight on the way out.

The reason both rigs are permanently contested in 2026 is that a hackable crate is a guaranteed pair of Advanced Blueprint Fragments. Three successful hacks is a Tier 3 workbench. Nothing else on the map pays that reliably.

Underwater Labs sit on the seabed, need a diving tank or a submarine, and are the one water monument with recyclers on board. They are also the quietest high tier loot in the game, because most servers have three or four labs and nobody watches all of them.

The Best Rust Monuments by Wipe Stage

There is no single best monument. There is a best monument for the hour you are in.

StageRun TheseWhy
First hourOxum’s Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost, Jungle RuinsBarrels, a full rate recycler, no radiation, no scientists, nobody there

GearedOil Rig, Large Oil Rig, Underwater LabsHackable crates are guaranteed Advanced Fragments in pairs
EndgameLaunch Site, Military Tunnel, Nuclear Missile SiloElite crates, red card rooms and the best guns on the map

If you only take one thing from this section: Water Treatment Plant is the most underrated monument in Rust. It is the only blue card puzzle with zero median radiation, it pays a red keycard and two Basic Fragments, it has 30 crates and a recycler, and it has no permanent scientist garrison. Everyone queues at Airfield instead because Airfield looks more impressive.

Monument Reset and Respawn Timers

Monuments are on timers, and knowing them turns a monument run into a loop instead of a one off.

WhatTimerNotes
Crates and barrelsAbout 30 to 36 minutesPer container, not per monument. They come back staggered.
Puzzle roomsAbout 30 minutesFrom when the door opens, not when you leave
Elite cratesAbout 25 minutesSlightly faster than the room they sit in
ScientistsAbout 24 minutesMeasured from death. Clearing a rig twice means fighting twice.
Hackable crate15 minute hackNot a respawn. That is how long you have to defend it.
EverythingServer wipeThe map is regenerated on a force wipe and every monument moves

The practical version is a 30 minute loop. Two nearby monuments, run one while the other repopulates, and you never stand still long enough to be third partied. That is also why you should never clear a monument and immediately re run it: you are guaranteed empty containers and the only thing that changed is that other players now know where you are.

Monument CCTV Camera Codes

Every monument with cameras broadcasts on a fixed identifier that never changes between wipes. Type it into a Computer Station and you get a live feed. Codes are case sensitive, and a station holds 15 at a time.

MonumentCodes

Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Lab codes are the exception. Those are generated per server, so you have to read them off the camera in world. Everything above is fixed and works on any vanilla server, forever.

The obvious use is checking whether Oil Rig is already being run before you spend twenty minutes rowing to it. The less obvious one is watching SILOEXIT1 and SILOEXIT2 to see whether anyone is coming out of the silo with your loot.

Monument Myths and Mistakes

Myth: Outpost has a Tier 2 workbench. It has two Level 1 benches, and so does Bandit Camp. No public monument gives you Tier 2 or Tier 3 crafting. Several large sites repeat this and it has cost people a lot of walking.

Myth: the Dome has no recycler. It did not until October 2025. It does now, behind the green card door, and that includes on guides published earlier this year.

Myth: Missile Silo is a blue card monument. It was. The same October 2025 update promoted it to red card and added three elite crates and Advanced Fragment spawns.

Myth: tier 3 monuments give you Tier 3. Loot tier and workbench tier are separate systems, and have been since fragments landed.

Mistake: turning up without a fuse. Fuses are consumed on use, every puzzle needs at least one, and Launch Site and Airfield need two. More monument runs fail on a missing fuse than on a missing card.

Mistake: doing green puzzles after you already have blue cards. Green rooms pay one Basic Fragment, blue rooms pay two. Once you can open blue doors, green rooms are only worth it for the card itself.

Mistake: full kit at a Tier 1 monument. Nobody defends Oxum’s Gas Station. Wearing an AK and a facemask to farm barrels there just makes you worth killing.

Mistake: recycling at Outpost. You are handing back a third of your scrap for the privilege of a safe zone. The gas station down the road pays 60%.

Pro Tips for Running Monuments

  • Carry two fuses and a green card at all times. They are cheap, they stack, and they turn any monument you stumble across into a puzzle room.
  • Learn one two monument loop and run it on a 30 minute cycle. Movement is safety, and containers repopulate while you are away.
  • Recycle before you leave, not when you get home. Scrap and high quality metal stack far tighter than the components they came from, and a full inventory is what gets you killed on the road.
  • Do Water Treatment Plant before Airfield. Same red card, a third of the traffic, and zero median radiation.
  • Do not hack a crate you cannot hold for 15 minutes. The siren tells the whole server, and the Chinook tells them exactly which rig.
  • Take pills, not chances, at Launch Site. Anti Radiation Pills remove 75 radiation over 5 seconds and cost you nothing to carry.
  • Check the wipe clock before a fragment grind. Five Advanced Fragments the night before a force wipe is a wasted evening.
  • Use a minicopter to reach the quiet monuments. The far corner of the map is where the uncontested Tier 2 loot lives.

Rust Monuments FAQ

How many monuments are there in Rust?
A standard procedural map holds roughly 60 monuments across eight categories: large, medium, small, roadside, safe zone, oceanside, offshore and deep sea. The exact number varies because the world generator picks based on map size and biome, so smaller maps drop some of the large monuments and duplicate fewer of the water wells, quarries and jungle ruins.
What is the best monument in Rust?
Launch Site has the most loot in the game at 77 crates and 64 barrels, but the most useful monument for progression is Water Treatment Plant. It runs a blue keycard puzzle that pays a red keycard and two Basic Blueprint Fragments, it has 30 crates and a recycler, and its median radiation is zero. Early wipe, the best monuments are Oxum’s Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket and Mining Outpost, because all three have a full rate recycler and nobody contests them.
What are the tier 3 monuments in Rust?
Launch Site, Military Tunnel, Power Plant, Nuclear Missile Silo and Giant Excavator Pit. They hold elite crates, red keycard rooms and Advanced Blueprint Fragments. Tier 3 describes loot quality, not workbench level. No monument in the game contains a public Tier 2 or Tier 3 workbench.
How do you unlock Workbench 2 and 3 in Rust?
Since the Meta Shift update on 2 October 2025, Workbench Level 2 costs 5 Basic Blueprint Fragments and Workbench Level 3 costs 5 Advanced Blueprint Fragments, alongside a reduced scrap cost. Basic Fragments are guaranteed in green puzzle rooms at one each and blue puzzle rooms at two each. Advanced Fragments are guaranteed inside hackable crates, always in pairs, and have a 1 in 10 chance in elite crates. You can also convert 20 Basic Fragments into 1 Advanced.
Which Rust monuments have puzzles?
Green card puzzles are at Harbor Large, Harbor Small, Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, The Dome, Ferry Terminal and Radtown. Blue card puzzles are at Water Treatment Plant, Train Yard and Airfield. Red card rooms are at Power Plant, Military Tunnel, Launch Site, Nuclear Missile Silo and Large Oil Rig. The Dome, Ferry Terminal and Radtown puzzles were added in October 2025.
Which monuments need a hazmat suit in Rust?
Military Tunnel, Power Plant, Launch Site and Nuclear Missile Silo all require one. Airfield, Train Yard and the interior of Water Treatment Plant are strongly recommended. Satellite Dish, Sewer Branch, the Dome and the Giant Excavator sit at 11 radiation or less and are survivable in ordinary clothing. Two interiors beat a full suit: the Vehicle Assembly Building at Launch Site and the broken cooling tower at Power Plant.
How long does a monument take to reset in Rust?
Crates and barrels repopulate in roughly 30 to 36 minutes, staggered per container rather than all at once. Puzzle rooms reset about 30 minutes after the door opens. Elite crates come back in about 25 minutes and scientists respawn about 24 minutes after they die. A 30 minute loop between two nearby monuments keeps you moving and always arriving at fresh loot.
Which monuments have recyclers in Rust?
About 29 recyclers spread across 22 monuments. Outpost and Power Plant have three each. Bandit Camp, Airfield and Sewer Branch have two each. Launch Site, Train Yard, Military Tunnel, Water Treatment Plant, Giant Excavator, both harbors, Junkyard, Radtown, Satellite Dish, Arctic Research Base, Ferry Terminal, Lighthouse, Mining Outpost, Oxum’s Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, Underwater Labs and the Dome have one each. Neither oil rig, Cargo Ship, Missile Silo, Fishing Village, Ranch or Large Barn has one.
What is the easiest red keycard monument in Rust?
Water Treatment Plant. Its blue card puzzle needs one blue keycard and one fuse, its median radiation is zero, it has no permanent scientist garrison, and the reward includes a red keycard plus two Basic Blueprint Fragments. Train Yard is the next easiest with four scientists. Airfield, Power Plant and Military Tunnel all cost far more to enter for the same card.
Are monuments safe zones in Rust?
Only six are: Outpost, Bandit Camp, the Apartment Complex, the Fishing Villages, Ranch and Large Barn. Player damage is disabled inside them and NPC sentries kill anyone who opens fire. Every other monument in the game is fully contested, and the biggest ones sit inside no build zones so nobody can wall them off either.
What monument gives the blue keycard in Rust?
Any green card puzzle room: Harbor Large, Harbor Small, Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, The Dome, Ferry Terminal and Radtown all contain one. You can also buy a blue keycard from the Outpost vendor for around 100 scrap, though vendor prices drift because NPC pricing has been dynamic since July 2024.
Which monument has the most scientists in Rust?
Military Tunnel, with 33 aggressive scientists in tight concrete corridors. Nuclear Missile Silo is next at 26 or more, and its scientists carry night vision goggles, which makes the underground levels genuinely worse. Large Oil Rig runs 23 blue scientists plus 10 heavies when the hackable crate is started, and Giant Excavator Pit has 18.
Do you need an electric fuse for every monument puzzle?
Yes. Every keycard puzzle in the game is powered by an Electric Fuse, and the fuse is destroyed when it is used. Launch Site and Airfield each need two. Fuses spawn in barrels, crates and sunken chests, so carry a spare rather than walking back for one.
What is the Apartment Complex in Rust?
A safe zone monument added in the Common Ground update on 2 July 2026. It rents apartments in three sizes and 14 vending shops for a 100 scrap deposit plus 10 scrap an hour, and offers a free repair bench, research table and drone market. Rooms cannot be raided conventionally, but any player can buy a 1,000 scrap Apartment Key for five minutes of access, during which the room becomes a combat zone.
Which monuments have hackable crates in Rust?
Oil Rig, Large Oil Rig, Underwater Labs, Cargo Ship and CH47 drops. The hack takes 15 minutes, sets off sirens and calls in a Chinook carrying 5 heavy scientists at Oil Rig or 10 at Large Oil Rig. They matter more than ever because every hackable crate contains a guaranteed pair of Advanced Blueprint Fragments, which is five sixths of a Tier 3 workbench from two crates.
Can you build at monuments in Rust?
No. Every monument sits inside a no build zone that blocks building and deployables, and the zones are large. Launch Site alone covers just over 92,000 square metres, Harbor Large around 196,000. That is what keeps monuments contested for the whole wipe instead of being claimed by the first group to reach them.
What are the CCTV camera codes for Rust monuments?
They are fixed identifiers that never change between wipes. Oil Rig uses OILRIG1DOCK, OILRIG1HELI and OILRIG1L1 through L4. Large Oil Rig uses the OILRIG2 equivalents. Missile Silo uses SILOMISSILE, SILOTOWER, SILOSHIPPING, SILOEXIT1 and SILOEXIT2. Outpost uses COMPOUNDSTREET, COMPOUNDCRUDE, COMPOUNDCHILL and COMPOUNDMUSIC. Codes are case sensitive and a Computer Station holds 15 at a time. Abandoned Military Base and Underwater Lab codes are generated per server and have to be read in world.
How much does the Giant Excavator produce in Rust?
One diesel fuel runs the excavator for two minutes and yields roughly 2,800 stone, 1,400 metal fragments, 500 sulfur or 40 high quality metal depending on which resource you select. That is around double what a quarry produces in the same time. Every five diesel burned also lets you call in an airdrop from the supply signal computer on site.

Final Thoughts

Monuments used to be a loot question. Since October 2025 they are a progression question, and that makes the order you run them in matter more than which ones look impressive.

The route that works is boring on purpose. Barrels at the roadside monuments for your first components. Green puzzle rooms at Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, Harbor and the Dome for your five Basic Fragments and a Workbench 2. Water Treatment Plant for a red card that costs you almost nothing. Then hackable crates until you have five Advanced Fragments and a Tier 3 bench.

Launch Site and Military Tunnel are the ones everyone talks about, and they are worth running, but they are the reward for doing the quiet monuments first rather than a shortcut past them. Carry a fuse, keep a green card in your pocket, and check the wipe clock before you commit an evening to any of it.
