Oxum’s Gas Station is the run down roadside gas station with the tall Oxum’s sign. It is one of the most useful small monuments in Rust: a green recycler, a free green keycard, a guaranteed military crate in the office, five food boxes and, since the Power Trip update, a working garage with a public car lift. There is no radiation and there are no scientists, so you can run it naked on wipe day.
This Oxum’s Gas Station Rust guide covers what the monument is, its layout, every loot container and how the crates change by map zone, how much scrap one loop is worth, the green card office, the recycler, the new garage and cave, the roof, and the fastest loot route.
What Is Oxum’s Gas Station in Rust?
Oxum’s Gas Station is a small roadside monument that spawns beside the road network on procedural maps. It first appeared in Devblog 173 in August 2017 and looks like an abandoned American gas station: four fuel pumps under a rusted awning, a shop with a glass front, an office, a bathroom, a store room, a garage on the side and a fenced generator cage at the back. Big maps usually have two or three of them.
It belongs to the same family as the Mining Outpost and the Abandoned Supermarket. All three are quiet, radiation free stops with a green recycler, but the gas station is the only one with a guaranteed military crate, and the only one with a public car lift. For how it fits with every other landmark, see our Rust monuments guide.

Oxum’s Gas Station Layout
The building is small, but it has more rooms and more doors than it looks like from the road. That is what makes it dangerous: every room has two ways in.
- Front and pumps. The forecourt with the fuel pumps, a broken truck, a hobo barrel and a crate spawn. A vehicle parts crate sits by the garage door.
- The shop. The glass fronted store with the cash counter and shelves. Food boxes spawn on the shelves, plus a vehicle parts crate. The bathroom off the shop can hold another food box.
- The office. Boarded up at the start of a wipe. The green keycard sits on the desk and a military crate spawns inside.
- The garage. The recycler, a vehicle parts crate and the car lift, with a pit under it that leads down a short drop into a small cave.
- The store room. At the back, with a crate and food spawns and a stack of boxes up to a ceiling hatch, the only way onto the roof.
- Outside walls. The payphone side with a crate, and the cage side with the generator and a crate behind the fence that you reach from the roof or through a gap in the corner.
Oxum’s Gas Station Loot
The gas station has 16 containers. The five main crate spots change with the map zone the monument spawns in, so a gas station inland is worth more than one by the beach. Our Rust loot tables list exactly what every crate can drop.
| Container | Amount | What it rolls | Respawn |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main crates, tier 1 zone | 5 | Basic crate 50%, brown crate 35%, military crate 15% | 15-30 min |
| Main crates, tier 2 zone | 5 | Brown crate 85%, military crate 15% | 15-30 min |
| Main crates, tier 3 zone | 5 | Brown crate 70%, military crate 30% | 15-30 min |
| Cave crates | 2 | Tier 1: cave brown crate 60% or basic crate 40%. Tier 2 and 3: cave brown crate | 30-36 min |
| Vehicle parts crates | 3 | Engine parts and 8 scrap | 30-36 min |
| Food boxes | 5 | Canned food, chocolate, granola and water | 30-36 min |
| Office military crate | 1 | Military crate loot, 8 scrap | Resets with the office |
The military crates are the big prize. On a fresh wipe they are often the first real chance at a gun, which is why the gas station gets so much traffic in the first hour. The five food boxes are worth grabbing too: on a new spawn a gas station run is the fastest way to fill up on food without hunting.
How Much Scrap Is an Oxum’s Gas Station Run?
Here is our own math, using the container odds above and the fixed scrap in each container (basic crate 3, brown crate 5, military crate 8, vehicle parts crate 8). It counts only the scrap inside the crates, with every container full, and leaves out the food boxes, which hold no scrap.
| Map zone | 5 main crates | 2 cave crates | 3 parts crates | Per loop | With office crate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | ~22 | ~8 | 24 | ~55 | ~63 |
| Tier 2 | ~27 | 10 | 24 | ~61 | ~69 |
| Tier 3 | ~30 | 10 | 24 | ~64 | ~72 |
That beats the Mining Outpost, which pays about 38 to 47 scrap a loop, mostly because of the extra main crate, the cave and the third parts crate. The real value is what you recycle on the spot: brown crates are full of gears, pipes, springs and road signs, and the garage recycler turns them into far more scrap than the crates themselves.
Green Keycard at Oxum’s Gas Station
The green keycard spawns on the office desk, in the same room as a military crate. At the start of a wipe the office is sealed with wooden boards on both doors. Hit them with any melee tool, a rock is fine, and they break.
- One card per reset. The card and the office military crate do not run on the normal crate timer. They come back when the office resets, so on a busy server the desk is usually empty after the first hour.
- Buy it instead. Bandit Camp sells a green card for 15 scrap, which is often quicker than checking every gas station on the map.
- Where to use it. Take the card and an electric fuse to the Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, the Harbor or the Dome, and the green door pays you a blue keycard.
Oxum’s Gas Station Recycler
The only recycler is in the garage, to the left of the lift. It is a normal green monument recycler, so it pays 50% of an item’s value on a fresh wipe and 60% once the Power Plant grid has enough Heavy Fuses to restore the recyclers. That is the same rate as Launch Site and better than the 40% safe zone machines at Outpost and Bandit Camp.
You can see the recycler from the back door before you walk in, which makes it easy to check whether someone is already using it. If you hear it running, assume the person at it is armed.
Oxum’s Gas Station Garage, Car Lift and Cave
The Power Trip update in August 2026 turned the garage into a working workshop. It powers up from the island grid once the Power Plant reaches Stage 1, or from a small backup generator around the side of the building that runs on low grade fuel, so it still works when the grid is down. A switch on the outer wall opens the garage door, as long as the switch has power.
- Public car lift. Drive a modular car onto the lift to swap modules, repair parts, add a lock and cut keys, the same menu as your own car lift. Our Rust cars guide covers the builds.
- Crude oil. Crude can only be drained from a tanker module while the car sits on a lift, so the gas station is the drop off point for crude from the Dome.
- Crush zone. The lift itself cannot be destroyed, but anything caught at the top or bottom of its travel can. A car driven into the ceiling or floor gets destroyed, and so do horses and bikes.
- The cave. Raising the lift opens the pit into a small cave with two crates and a chance at the new advanced vehicle parts crate, which holds medium quality parts instead of low quality ones. Put the lift back down afterwards, or the next car on it gets crushed.
Oxum’s Gas Station Roof and Fights
There is only one way up and many ways down. The roof is the best spot in the monument, because from there you see the road, the pumps, the garage door and both back doors.
- Getting up. In the store room, jump onto the stack of boxes and climb the ladder through the ceiling hatch.
- Holding it. Anyone coming up the hatch has to climb into your crosshair, so a player on the roof can hold off a much better kitted group for a while.
- Roof loot. The sign roof and the awning each have a crate spawn, and the awning has a food box. The awning crate can roll military.
- Getting down. Drop off any edge, onto the awning over the pumps, or into the generator cage to grab its crate.
- Garage door. If the big garage door is only half open, you can crouch walk under it, which is a quiet way in and out of the garage.
Fastest Oxum’s Gas Station Loot Route
- Come in from the road side and check the forecourt crate, the pumps and the vehicle parts crate by the garage door.
- Go through the shop: food boxes on the shelves and the parts crate, then the bathroom.
- Break the office boards and take the green card and the military crate.
- Clear the garage parts crate, raise the lift if it has power, and drop into the cave for the two crates.
- Walk out the back, loot the store room and the payphone side, then climb to the roof for the roof crates and the food box.
- Drop into the generator cage for its crate, then go back to the garage and recycle everything.
Bring a cheap gun or a bow, a few bandages and any clothes. There is no radiation, so a full kit only makes you a target. If you want more stops on the way, our Rust beginner’s guide covers the next monuments to run, like the Junkyard, and every vehicle you can drive between them is in our Rust vehicles list.
The monthly force wipe resets the map, so every month you get new gas stations, full office desks and a dark Power Plant grid. See exactly how long you have left.
Force Wipe CountdownOxum’s Gas Station Rust FAQ
What is Oxum’s Gas Station in Rust?
Oxum’s Gas Station is a small roadside monument shaped like an abandoned gas station, with a shop, an office, a garage, a store room and a roof. It has 16 loot containers, a green recycler, a green keycard and a public car lift, with no radiation and no scientists.
Is there a recycler at Oxum’s Gas Station?
Yes, one green recycler in the garage, to the left of the car lift. It pays 50% when the Power Plant grid is off and 60% when the grid is powered.
Where is the green card at Oxum’s Gas Station?
On the desk in the office, next to a military crate. The office is boarded up at the start of a wipe, and any melee tool breaks the boards. The card comes back when the office resets, not on a crate timer.
How many crates are at Oxum’s Gas Station?
16 containers: 5 main crates, 2 cave crates, 3 vehicle parts crates, 5 food boxes and 1 military crate in the office. The main crates roll better in tier 2 and 3 map zones, with a 15% to 30% military crate chance.
How much scrap is an Oxum’s Gas Station run?
About 55 scrap in a tier 1 zone, 61 in tier 2 and 64 in tier 3 on average, counting only the scrap inside the crates. The office military crate adds 8 more, and recycling the components adds much more.
How do you use the car lift at Oxum’s Gas Station?
Power the garage from the Power Plant grid at Stage 1 or by putting low grade fuel in the backup generator beside the building, open the garage door with the wall switch, drive a modular car onto the lift and open the lift menu.
What is in the cave at Oxum’s Gas Station?
Two crates and a chance at the advanced vehicle parts crate, which holds medium quality car parts. Raise the car lift in the garage to reach it, or drop through the pit under the lift.
How do you get on the roof of Oxum’s Gas Station?
Go into the store room at the back, jump onto the stack of boxes and climb the ladder through the ceiling hatch. It is the only way up.
Is Oxum’s Gas Station a safe zone?
No. It is a normal PvP monument with no turrets or safe zone rules, and it gets a lot of traffic early in a wipe. The safe zone monuments are Outpost and Bandit Camp.
