How Many Satchels for an Armored Door in Rust? (C4, Rockets & Double Door) 2026

Rust raid cost, updated October 2026

An armored door in Rust takes 15 satchel charges to break, which costs 7,200 sulfur. It also takes 3 C4 (6,600 sulfur), 5 rockets (7,000 sulfur) or 250 explosive 5.56 rounds (6,250 sulfur). The armored double door has the same 1,000 HP and takes the same amounts. The cheapest way through is 2 C4 plus 30 explo rounds for 5,150 sulfur.

The armored door is the strongest door in Rust: 1,000 HP for 20 high quality metal and 5 gears at a Workbench 3. Here’s every explosive that breaks one and the combo that saves you over 1,000 sulfur.

TL;DR 15 satchels, 3 C4, 5 rockets or 250 explo ammo. Cheapest: 2 C4 + 30 explo for 5,150 sulfur. The armored double door is the same. Doors have no soft side.

How Many Satchels for an Armored Door?

15 satchel charges break an armored door, for 7,200 sulfur. Each satchel does about 70 damage to the door, so 15 deliver 1,050 against its 1,000 HP. Throwing them takes about 30 sec.

Bring 17. With 15 charges, a dud is likely, and two spares (960 sulfur) protect the whole 7,200. You’ll see 12 satchels quoted on some older sites. It’s 15. More in our satchel guide.

How many explosives for an armored door in Rust: 3 C4, 5 rockets, 15 satchel charges, 250 explosive 5.56 rounds, 69 beancan grenades and 42 HV rockets, with real Rust item icons and the armored door in-game texture

How Many Rockets for an Armored Door?

5 rockets break an armored door, for 7,000 sulfur, in about 24 sec. Never use high velocity rockets on it: they do about 24 damage each and you’d need 42. See our rocket guide.

How Many C4 for an Armored Door?

3 C4 break an armored door, for 6,600 sulfur. Each charge does about 440 damage to the door, so two leave it on 120 HP. Three takes about 13 sec from the first stick to an open door. Full recipe in our C4 guide.

How Much Explo Ammo for an Armored Door?

250 rounds of explosive 5.56 break an armored door, for 6,250 sulfur, the cheapest single explosive. Each round does just over 4 damage, and it’s the same count with every rifle. Expect about 1 min 47 sec of fire. More in our explosive ammo guide.

Every Explosive vs an Armored Door (Full Table)

Here is every explosive that can break an armored door, sorted from the cheapest to the most expensive in sulfur. Amounts are for one undamaged armored door in vanilla Rust. Raid time is how long it takes to land that many from the moment you start, with no defenders.

The Cheapest Way to Break an Armored Door

2 C4 + 30 explosive 5.56 rounds = 5,150 sulfur. The two charges do 880 damage and leave the door on 120 HP, and 30 explo rounds finish it. That saves 1,450 sulfur against 3 C4.

ComboSulfurSaving vs 3 C4
2 C4 + 30 explo ammo5,1501,450
2 C4 + 1 satchel + 13 explo ammo5,2051,395
2 C4 + 2 satchels5,3601,240
250 explo ammo6,250350
3 C46,600Baseline
5 rockets7,000-400
15 satchels7,200-600

If a turret or a defender covers the doorway, pay for the third C4. Standing in front of the door shooting 30 rounds is the risky part.

How Many C4 for an Armored Double Door?

3 C4, the same as the single armored door. The armored double door costs 25 HQM and 5 gears instead of 20 and 5, but it has the same 1,000 HP and takes the same 15 satchels, 5 rockets or 250 explo rounds. It’s one entity, so you only break it once.

Watch the frame. The double door goes in a wall frame, and raiders will break whichever is cheaper. A stone frame (2 C4) is cheaper than the door, so an armored double door only pays off in a sheet metal or armored frame. Our double door guide has the details.

Armored Door vs Other Doors

The armored door has the highest HP of any door, but it’s still much cheaper to raid than the walls around it:

TargetHPSatchelsC4RocketsExplo ammo
Sheet metal door25041263
Garage door600923150
Armored door1,0001535250
Sheet metal wall1,0002348400
Armored wall2,00046815799

An armored door in a sheet metal doorway is 3 C4 against 4 for the doorway, so the door is still the weak point. Our armored door guide covers crafting, the hatch and placement.

Tips for Raiding an Armored Door

Tips for raiding an armored door in Rust: 2 C4 plus 30 explo ammo is cheapest, bring spare satchels, never use HV rockets, and the double door costs the same, shown with a real in-game screenshot of an armored door hatch and real item icons
Four ways to spend less sulfur on this target.
  1. Use the 2 C4 combo. 2 C4 + 30 explo rounds saves 1,450 sulfur per door.
  2. Bring 17 satchels. 15 needed, 2 for duds.
  3. Skip HV rockets. 42 of them for one door, 8,400 sulfur.
  4. Check the frame. A double door in a stone frame is cheaper through the frame.
  5. Mind the hatch. The door’s hatch lets defenders shoot out. Clear the room before you start shooting explo.
