A Rust base is a 3D thing: floor stacks, triangle bunkers, honeycomb layers and where every furnace and workbench goes. No article can show that, so this page does the honest version. Below are the 40 best Rust base designs of 2025 and 2026, ranked per group size, each with the builder’s own step by step YouTube tutorial, its build cost, daily upkeep, rockets to raid and the code to load it in a build server and walk through it yourself.
Further down you will find schematic floor plans of the common footprints (2×1, 2×2, 3×1, open core, circle), a short guide to the words every tutorial uses, and the raid and upkeep numbers that decide which design is worth your farm.
How to use this list: pick your group size, watch the top video in that section (it plays right here), then load the design with its Rust Room or Builder’s Sanctuary code on a build server before you spend real farm on it. Costs come from the creator or the design site and most include deployables; “?” means the creator only shows it on screen in the video.
Best Solo Base Designs (2026)
The Dune by Faded
A cheap solo base built to resist both online and offline raids, with a heavily protected core and vending machine bunkers. It has a small living area, a shooting floor and an external TC built at the end. Faded designed it around the jungle biome.
Watch the tutorialSacred by Limi Lab
A low upkeep solo or duo design with four walls to the loot and three bunkers. It grows from a start base to a second floor and an open core, then adds externals, an outer shell and a shooting floor.
Watch the tutorialSpike by Indominus
A casual friendly bunker base with three vending machine bunkers, three walls to the TC and mini open core peeks. It has a roomy second floor, funnel walls with respawn chutes, three hidden loot rooms with shotgun traps and three entrances. Up to nine turret pods protect it and the roof has room for a farm.
Watch the tutorialNEOTEK by Limi Lab
A solo or duo base with six bunkers, low upkeep and heavy auto turret coverage. It grows from a start base through an expansion and a compound to an outer shell and a shooting floor. Limi Lab rates it at 90+ rockets.
Watch the tutorialThe Knight by Faded
The core is a 360 degree inner ring guarded by six turrets, with three unsplashable HQM bunkers for the best loot and up to three walls to the core from most raid paths. It runs on one TC, expands from an easy starter, and has hidden gear lockers and a compound with strong peek angles.
Watch the tutorialThe Overpass II by Zypic
A solo or duo bunker base built around a compact stability bunker and four unsplashable hidden loot rooms behind embrasures. The floor stacking makes top-down raids inefficient (about 23 rockets per layer) and gives plenty of peek-downs. It is symmetrical on three sides, so it is easy to build, and external TCs are optional.
Watch the tutorialHideout by Indominus
Indominus's own solo or duo main. It expands from a simple circle core, has shooting floors at every stage, and can take an optional pixel gap or stair bunker on the TC. Three funnel wall respawn areas, up to seven respawn bedrooms, open core retake peeks and turret pods on the roof make it defendable online.
Watch the tutorialDune 2 by Faded
Faded's rework of The Dune: the starter has a working bunker from day one and raiders face three walls to the core. Four bunkers in total (two unsplashable HQM bunkers), a pancake layer against top-down raids and a vending machine bunkered TC. The second floor has a bedroom with a peek into a mini open core, a hidden loot room and a refinery.
Watch the tutorialBelfry by Limi Lab
Limi Lab's first tower base, aimed at solos who want low build and upkeep costs. The build goes start base, honeycomb, a shooting floor, then a top roof.
Watch the tutorialBurrow by Indominus
Indominus's most efficient solo bunker base, with a roof bunker that relies on stability plus a vending machine TC bunker, so the base is double bunkered. It has three walls to the TC, a 12 barrel loot room, a refinery, a vending machine shop and a mini turret pod, with very low upkeep.
Watch the tutorialBest Duo Base Designs (2026)
The BEAST by Faded
Built to stand up to offline raids: a cheap starter with an early bunker that grows into a base with at least three walls to the core loot and TC. It has a roomy second floor, runs on a single TC (an external TC is recommended), and an optional compound adds online defence angles.
Watch the tutorialWarlock by Limi Lab
An offline focused duo or trio base with five walls, a floor stack, an open core and externals, wrapped in a mini China wall. Building it with a plain compound instead of the China wall cuts the cost to about 120k frags and upkeep to about 22k frags a day.
Watch the tutorial097 by Faded
Faded calls this his strongest 2×1. A 2×1 starter scales into a multi layer, honeycombed base with bunker systems and inner peeks. The video also covers TC placement for lower upkeep, the roof and the shooting floor.
Watch the tutorialRiptide by Limi Lab
A duo to quad base with five bunkers and four walls that is simple to build. It goes start base, second floor, honeycomb, expansion, externals, then two shell layers and a shooting floor.
Watch the tutorialThe Ghost by Nini Rust
Nini Rust's six bunker base for solos, duos or trios, with a shield wall, hidden loot and a farm built into the base. It has several TCs, a shooting floor, a roof and a compound with automatic turret pods and windmill power, built for both online and offline defence.
Watch the tutorialValkyrie by Faded
Faded's 2×1 for online and offline raids, with a roomy core and living area and up to four bunkers, including vending machine bunkers. It has a mini open core and ballista peeks, and the build goes starter, honeycomb, second floor, shooting floor, then a compound.
Watch the tutorialThe Onyx by spinky.
A new meta 2×2 from spinky that works as either a snowball base or a full wipe main for solo, duo or trio. It goes from a starter to the main base, and the listed costs include deployables.
Watch the tutorialTower Base by Hidden Joint
Hidden Joint's take on the tower trend: a strong 2×2 tower with a mini shell, a mini open core and anti-siege. It has four bunkers and plenty of hidden stash spots, rated at 60 rockets.
Watch the tutorialBest Trio Base Designs (2026)
Titan 3 by Faded
Faded's best 2×2, built for online and offline raids. Its dedicated loot room sits high above the main raid paths, backed by vending machine bunkers, a mini open core and peek-downs. The build is split into five phases.
Watch the tutorialThe Shadow by Faded
Faded calls this his strongest 2×2. A 2×2 starter scales up into a multi layer, honeycombed base with bunker systems, peeks and planned loot paths. The video covers where to put the TC to keep upkeep down, plus the roof and the shooting floor.
Watch the tutorialThe Ward V3 by Nini Rust
A step by step expanding tank base with six bunkers and every layer honeycombed, so raiders face at least five walls and six floors. It has a big honeycombed open core, one way peeks, self defending auto turrets and a shield wall, with jump-ups and respawn bedrooms on every layer. Nini says it works on PC and console.
Watch the tutorialThe Armor by Nini Rust
A meta tank base with eight spread out stability bunker pods, a 360 degree shield wall and anti-siege disconnectable external TCs. The open core has built in retake angles, and a compound with auto turret pods guards the breach points.
Watch the tutorialWidow by Faded
A duo, trio or quad fortress built around four very strong HQM bunkers and a multi layer core designed to drive up raid cost. Its peek-downs are shielded from raid bases, it has a strong shooting floor, and it grows from an efficient starter.

Watch the tutorialRust Base Floor Plans: the Footprints Every Design Uses
Almost every tutorial above starts from one of these shapes. Rust foundations are squares and triangles, and the triangles are what make honeycomb possible. Read these as the ground floor; most designs stack two to four floors of the same footprint and seal the outer cells on every level.
2×1 bunker starter
Two foundations with triangles honeycombed round them. The TC sits in one square, the loot in the other, and one of the triangles is the bunker that seals the entrance when you log off.
2×2 with triangle honeycomb
The most built base in Rust. Four squares make the core, eight triangles seal the outside, and an airlock triangle sits on the door. Stack the same shape for each floor.
3×1 tank base
Three squares in a row give two loot rooms and a middle room, each behind its own walls. Triangles on every side take the honeycomb and the bunkers.
Open core
A 2×2 loot core with a full ring of squares round it. The ring is where you live and fight from; the core is open above so you can peek down on raiders from the floors above.
Circle (egg) footprint
A centre square with four squares on its sides and triangles filling the corners. The round shape gives peek angles in every direction and is the base of most 2026 ‘circle’ and ‘egg’ designs.
External TC pod
A single square with triangles round it and a TC inside, placed outside the main base. Its building privilege stops raiders placing towers or raid bases next to your walls.
WoodStoneMetalArmoredDoor Schematic ground floors, not to scale. Walls shown in the colour of the usual tier.

Base Design Terms Used in Every Tutorial
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Core | The inner rooms that hold your Tool Cupboard, loot and workbench. Everything else protects it. |
| Airlock | Two doors in a row so the outer one is closed before the inner one opens. Doubles the cost of the door path. |
| Honeycomb | Extra sealed squares or triangles round the core. Each stone layer adds 4 rockets to every path (see our stone wall guide). |
| Walls to core / TC | How many walls a raider must break on the cheapest path. “4 walls” with stone and a metal core is about 20 rockets. |
| Bunker | A trick that seals the entrance when you log off, so the only way in is through walls. Vending machine, roof (freehand and Multi TC), stability and stair bunkers are the 2026 types; offset and pixel gap bunkers were patched on PC in April 2024. Every type is in our Rust bunker guide. Facepunch patches some, which is why newer tutorials rank higher. |
| Unsplashable | A loot room placed so rocket splash from the next room cannot damage its boxes. |
| Open core | A loot core open above, inside a ring of rooms, so defenders peek down on anyone who breaks in. |
| Floor stack | Extra floors with sealed layers between them, so a top-down raid pays per floor. |
| Shooting floor | A top floor with windows or embrasures all round to defend from. |
| Shell | An outer wall layer round the whole base, usually with peeks, that adds walls to every path. |
| External TC | Extra cupboards in small pods outside, so raiders cannot build towers or raid bases next to you. |
| Compound / shield wall | A ring of high external walls (compound) or building blocks (shield wall) round the base, for farming, vehicles and anti-siege. |
| Anti-siege | Layout tricks that stop raiders parking a siege tower, catapult or raid base against your walls. |
The Numbers Behind the Rankings
Rockets to raid is the cost of the cheapest path from outside to the loot. One rocket is 1,400 sulfur and one C4 is 2,200, so a 60 rocket base is about 84,000 sulfur, more than most groups farm in a wipe. Per piece (rustlabs data): a stone wall takes 4 rockets, a sheet metal wall 8, an armored wall 15, a sheet metal door 2, a garage door 3 and an armored door 5. The TC itself breaks to one rocket, which is why every design above buries it. Check any single piece with our raid calculator, or draw your whole layout in the Rust base builder to see its build cost, upkeep and cheapest raid path to the TC.
Upkeep is paid by the TC every day in the materials the base is made of, and it climbs faster than the base grows, which is why a 60k frag clan base can cost 20k frags a day. Since the Breach and Clear update (3 September 2026) it also scales with the players authorised on the TC: the first four are free, players five to ten add 2% each, and every player after that adds 4%, up to 300%. High external walls and gates each add a fixed 20% (Power Trip, August 2026). The upkeep figures above are the creators’ numbers with no group tax; a six player clan adds 4% to them and a twelve player clan 20%. Plug any design into our Rust upkeep calculator to see the bill for your group size. See our decay and upkeep guide for the tier timers.
Two 2026 changes to keep in mind when you pick a tutorial. The Mortar (May 2026, 15 HQM and a pipe at Workbench 2) lobs shells over walls and onto open roofs, so designs with enclosed shooting floors and covered roofs (Everest V3, The Margherita, the Nini Rust tank bases) have aged better than open roof designs. And the October 2026 update made sandbag barricades stackable with a pillbox stage, which is the cheapest compound cover there is.

Rust Base Design FAQ
What is the best Rust base design in 2026?
It depends on your group. For solos the cheapest strong pick is Burrow by Indominus (7.2k stone, double bunkered) and the best value is The Dune by Faded. For duos and trios a bunkered 2×2 such as Faded’s Titan 3 or The Shadow. For clans, Limi Lab’s Aether (small group, about 140 rockets) or Everest V3 (200+ rockets).
What is the best solo base in Rust?
The Dune by Faded is the most watched solo tutorial of the last two years and costs under 19k stone and 14k frags. Burrow by Indominus is the cheapest double bunkered solo base at 7.2k stone, and Spike is the easiest to build with three walls to the TC.
What is the best 2×2 base design in Rust?
Titan 3 by Faded, with over 350,000 views, puts the loot room above the main raid paths behind vending machine bunkers. The Shadow (also Faded), The Pearl by Nini Rust and The Kringle by spinky are the strongest 2026 era 2×2 expansions.
How many rockets should a good base take to raid?
A solo base is in good shape at 30 to 60 rockets to the loot (42,000 to 84,000 sulfur). Duo and trio designs on this list sit at 60 to 100 rockets, and clan bases at 140 to 200+.
Do old bunker base designs still work?
Not always. Facepunch patches bunker tricks, so a 2024 bunker may no longer seal. That is why this list only includes tutorials from 2025 and 2026 and ranks 2026 designs higher. Load the build code on a build server and test the bunker before you commit.
How do I load a base design from a code?
Join a build server such as Rust Room, Builder’s Sanctuary or Rusticated, open its build menu and paste the creator’s code (for example Builder’s Sanctuary TITAN3). The whole base spawns so you can walk it, count the walls and copy the layout.
Does team size change upkeep in Rust?
Yes, since the Breach and Clear update on 3 September 2026. The first four players authorised on a tool cupboard are free, players five to ten add 2% upkeep each, and every player after that adds 4%, up to a 300% cap.
What is honeycombing in Rust?
Honeycombing means building extra sealed squares or triangles around your core so a raider who breaks one wall finds another behind it. One stone layer adds 4 rockets or 2 C4 to every path into your base.
