Dracula Mask Rust: How to Get It, Craft Cost, Stats & Price (2026)

Rust Halloween skin guide, 2026

Every Halloween the same blue face shows up on fresh spawns all over the beach: the Dracula Mask. It is a skin you buy once, but unlike most skins it is a real item with its own recipe and its own armor stats, so owners can craft a decent head piece out of almost nothing.

This Dracula Mask Rust guide covers how to get it, the 10 cloth recipe, the exact protection values, how it compares with other head gear, the full Dracula outfit, what it recycles into and what it costs on the Steam Market right now.

TL;DR The Dracula Mask is a Halloween 2023 Item Store skin. If it is in your Steam inventory, you can craft it from 10 cloth with no workbench in 15 seconds. It gives 20% projectile, 25% melee, 6% bite, 5% radiation and 10% cold protection on the head. That beats a Boonie Hat for the same cloth, but a Wolf Headdress or Coffee Can Helmet is much tankier. It is not in any loot table. Buy it on the Steam Community Market for about $3.70 to $4.30 (October 2026), or loot one off a player who owns it.

What Is the Dracula Mask in Rust?

The Dracula Mask is a wearable head item that Facepunch added with the Halloween update on October 23, 2023. The game describes it as “a classic halloween costume mask which provides decent protection”. In the game files it is draculamask with item ID 1865253052 (see our Rust item IDs list).

When it was first spotted in the game files, Rustafied called it a reskin of the Metal Facemask. It sits on the face the same way, but its stats are nowhere near metal. It is a cloth costume piece, priced like a Boonie Hat and protecting a little better than one.

It is the head half of a matching pair. The Dracula Cape came out at the same time as a Halloween replacement for the Jacket, and the two were sold together on the limited Item Store again in Halloween 2024.

How to Get the Dracula Mask in Rust

How to get the Dracula Mask in Rust: buy it on the Steam Community Market for about 3.70 to 4.30 dollars, from the limited Halloween Item Store in 2023 and 2024, craft it from 10 cloth once you own it, or loot it from an owner
No free unlock and no loot drop. Owning the skin is the key.

The Dracula Mask is a Steam item. The recipe only shows up in your crafting menu when the skin is in your Steam inventory, so there are only four ways to end up wearing one:

  1. Buy it on the Steam Community Market. This is the only way to get it right now unless Facepunch puts it back in the store. It sold for a median of about $3.70 with the lowest listing at $4.29 on October 27, 2026.
  2. Catch it on the limited Item Store. It launched on the Halloween 2023 store at $4.99 and came back for Halloween 2024 next to the Dracula Cape, and it is back again in the 2026 Halloween store for $3.99 (see the full 2026 list). Check our Rust Item Store page each Thursday during October.
  3. Craft it once you own it. After the skin lands in your inventory, the Dracula Mask appears in the clothing tab of every server you join, ready to craft from 10 cloth.
  4. Loot it off an owner. A crafted mask is a normal item. Kill someone wearing one and you can take it and wear it, even if you never bought the skin. You just cannot craft another.
No loot table drop The Dracula Mask does not spawn in crates, barrels or Halloween loot bags. The masks that do drop during the Halloween event are the free Frankenstein Mask and Mummy Mask, from scarecrows at about 2.3%.

Dracula Mask Craft Cost

Dracula Mask recipe in Rust: 10 cloth makes one Dracula Mask with no workbench, and owning the Steam item unlocks the recipe; craft time is 15 seconds by hand, 7.5 at a Workbench 1 and 3.75 at a Workbench 2 or 3
10 cloth, no workbench, about one hemp plant.

The recipe is as cheap as it gets: 10 cloth, which is a single hemp plant. No workbench, no sewing kit, no research.

Dracula Mask Protection Stats

Dracula Mask protection stats in Rust: 20 percent projectile, 25 percent melee, 6 percent bite, 5 percent radiation and 10 percent cold, worn in the head slot, cannot be repaired, despawns in 5 minutes
Decent for cloth, weak next to real helmets.
ProtectionDracula Mask
Projectile20%
Melee25%
Bite6%
Radiation5%
Cold10%
Explosion0%

Twenty percent projectile on the head matters more than it sounds. Headshots do double damage or more, so cutting a fifth off an arrow or a revolver round to the face is often what decides a wipe day bow fight. The 10% cold also makes it a handy pick on snow spawns.

The catch is the slot. The mask covers your whole face, so you cannot wear a helmet, a bandana or a headdress with it. Every point of head protection you have comes from the mask alone.

Dracula Mask vs Other Head Gear

Rust Dracula Mask compared with other head gear: Dracula Mask 20 percent projectile and 25 percent melee for 10 cloth, Boonie Hat 15 and 15 for 10 cloth, Wolf Headdress 30 and 60, Frankenstein Mask 35 and 50 from scarecrows, Metal Facemask 50 and 70 at Workbench 3
Best cloth head piece for its price, not a fight helmet.

Riot Helmet25%80%50 frags + 10 cloth, Workbench 1

The honest verdict: the Dracula Mask is the best thing you can put on your head for 10 cloth and zero workbench, which makes it a great first hour item. The moment you have a wolf skull or a workbench and some frags, a Wolf Headdress, Riot Helmet or Coffee Can Helmet at least doubles your melee protection and adds explosion resistance. The free Halloween masks also beat it, 35% projectile against 20%, if you get lucky with a scarecrow.

The Full Dracula Outfit

Full Dracula outfit in Rust: Dracula Mask on the head, Dracula Cape over a Hoodie on the chest, plus pants, boots and gloves, with an in-game shot of the cape flowing in the wind
Mask, cape and dark basics make the full Count look.

For the full Count look, pair the mask with the Dracula Cape. The cape takes the outer chest slot like a Jacket (50 cloth and 2 sewing kits at a Workbench 1), so you can still wear a Hoodie under it. Finish with pants, boots and gloves in dark skins.

  • Head: Dracula Mask (10 cloth)
  • Chest: Hoodie under the Dracula Cape
  • Legs, feet, hands: Pants, Boots and Leather or Tactical Gloves

What Does the Dracula Mask Recycle Into?

Dracula Mask recycle yield in Rust: 7 to 8 cloth in a red recycler at max power, 6 in a powered green recycler, 5 in a green recycler with the Power Plant offline and 4 in a safe zone recycler
Ten cloth in, between 4 and 8 back out.

A spare mask only ever gives back cloth. How much depends on the recycler:

RecyclerCloth back
Red recycler (Power Plant at max power, 75%)7, with a 50% chance of an 8th
Green recycler, Power Plant online (60%)6
Green recycler, Power Plant offline (50%)5
Safe zone recycler (Outpost, Bandit Camp, 40%)4

It is never worth crafting one just to recycle it. Recycle the masks you loot off other players if you do not want to wear them.

Dracula Mask Price

On October 27, 2026 the Steam Community Market had the Dracula Mask at a lowest listing of $4.29 and a median sale of $3.69, with around 15 sold that day. Prices usually climb a little in the run up to Halloween and drift back down in November.

Compare that with its original $4.99 store price and the skin has held its value well for a cheap Halloween item. If you are buying anyway, the Dracula Cape sits at a similar price, and our where to buy Rust skins and skin trading sites guides show cheaper places than the Steam Market. Dracula Mask Tips

Rust Dracula Mask tips: wear it on a fresh spawn for 20 percent projectile, swap to a Wolf Headdress early, use a real helmet like a Coffee Can for fights, and do not spend scrap researching it
A fresh spawn upgrade, not a raid helmet.
  • Craft it the second you spawn. One hemp plant turns a bare head into 20% projectile protection, which is a real edge in early bow fights.
  • Upgrade as soon as you can. A Wolf Headdress more than doubles your melee protection, and a Coffee Can or Riot Helmet is better again for gun fights.
  • Do not combine it. It takes the whole head, so wearing it means no bandana or helmet underneath.
  • Do not spend scrap on it. Owning the skin is what unlocks it. Research only makes a physical blueprint, which is pointless when the recipe is already yours.
  • Play the Halloween event in it. The 2026 Halloween event runs until the November force wipe. Check the force wipe countdown to see how long you have left.

Dracula Mask FAQ

How do you get the Dracula Mask in Rust?

Buy it on the Steam Community Market, where it costs about $3.70 to $4.30 in October 2026, or from the limited Item Store if Facepunch brings it back for Halloween. Once it is in your Steam inventory you can craft it on any server from 10 cloth.

How much cloth does a Dracula Mask cost?

10 cloth. It needs no workbench and takes 15 seconds by hand, 7.5 seconds at a Workbench 1 and 3.75 seconds at a Workbench 2 or 3.

Is the Dracula Mask good in Rust?

It is good for its price. It gives 20% projectile, 25% melee, 6% bite, 5% radiation and 10% cold protection for 10 cloth, which beats a Boonie Hat. A Wolf Headdress, Coffee Can Helmet or Metal Facemask protects much more, so swap it out once you can.

No. The recipe only appears in your crafting menu when the Dracula Mask skin is in your Steam inventory. You can still wear one you loot from another player.

Does the Dracula Mask drop from Halloween loot bags or scarecrows?

Can you wear a helmet with the Dracula Mask?

No. The Dracula Mask covers the whole face like a Metal Facemask, so it cannot be combined with a helmet, headdress or bandana.
