Rust Table: Cost, Blueprint, Comfort & Every Table in Rust (2026)

Rust base building guide, 2026

The table is one of the cheapest things you can put in a Rust base. It costs 100 wood, needs no workbench, and gives you comfort while you stand near it, so your health comes back faster between fights. It also shares a name with a lot of other Rust items, so new players often mix it up with the Research Table, the Mixing Table or the Clan Table.

This Rust table guide covers what the table costs, how to get the blueprint, what comfort does, where it drops as loot, what it recycles into, how to repair and pick it up, and how it compares to every other table in Rust.

TL;DR The Table costs 100 wood and needs no workbench. It takes 30 seconds by hand, 15 seconds at a Workbench 1 and 7 seconds at a Workbench 2 or 3. It is not a default blueprint: research one for 20 scrap, unlock its node on the Workbench 1 tech tree, or loot one from basic crates. It gives comfort when you stand close to it. A recycler gives back 50 to 75 wood depending on the machine (40 at a safe zone recycler), and a hammer repairs it for 50 wood. It does not store items.

Table Cost in Rust

Once you know the blueprint, the table is pure wood. You can craft it anywhere, even with no bench placed yet. Standing near a workbench just speeds it up.

Rust table craft cost: 100 wood with no workbench, 30 seconds by hand, 15 seconds at a Workbench 1, 7 seconds at a Workbench 2 or 3, stack size 1, repair cost 50 wood, item ID 593465182

Because a dropped table vanishes after only 5 minutes, do not leave a looted one on the ground while you finish a monument. Pick it up or place it fast. You can look up the ID of this and every other item in our Rust item IDs list.

How to Get the Table Blueprint

How to get the Rust table blueprint: research a table at a research table for 20 scrap, unlock the node on the Workbench 1 tech tree which costs about 4 Blueprint Fragments from an empty tree, or loot a table from basic crates, barrels and tunnel dwellers
Three ways to unlock the table.

Fresh characters do not know the table. You have three ways to get it:

  1. Research it. Put a table item in a Research Table with 15 scrap. This is the cheapest route if you already looted one.
  2. Workbench 1 tech tree. The table is a common node that costs 1 Blueprint Fragment on the tech tree. From an empty tree, the nodes you have to unlock first bring the total to about about 4 Blueprint Fragments.
  3. Loot one. Tables drop as items, then you research or place them.

Where tables drop (Facepunch wiki loot data):

SourceAmountChance
Basic crate14.8%
Tunnel dweller1 to 22.2%
Underwater Lab dweller1 to 22.2%
Blue barrel / yellow barrel11.1%
Scarecrows (Halloween event)1 to 33.3%
Gingerbread dungeons (Christmas event)1 to 33.3%

Basic crates are the brown wooden boxes along roads and in every monument, so you will often find a table in your first hour of a wipe. If you do, research it right away instead of placing it. 20 scrap is the same price as the tree node, and you skip every node in front of it.

Table Comfort: What It Does

Rust table comfort: the table gives comfort while you stand close to it with no seat needed, a chair gives 100 percent comfort but only while seated, and comfort does not stack so only your best source counts
Stand close to the table to get comfort.

Facepunch describes the table as “a decorative item which provides comfort when in close proximity”. Comfort shows up as a status on the right side of your screen. While you have it, your health regenerates faster and you warm up quicker when you are cold.

The difference from seats is that you do not have to use the table. A chair or a sofa only gives comfort while you sit in it, which means you cannot loot or craft at the same time. A table works while you walk around it, sort boxes or stand at your workbench.

A few rules to keep in mind:

  • Comfort does not stack. The game uses your single best source. A table next to a rug and a campfire does not add up to more than the best of the three.
  • You must be fed and watered. Comfort only speeds up regen when your hunger and thirst are not empty.
  • It is slow. Comfort helps you top up between fights. If you need health right now, use a bandage, syringe or medkit.

Where to Place a Table

The table goes on any foundation or floor, like other furniture. It does not attach to walls and it does not block a doorway the way a box does, so it is easy to fit into an existing room. Good spots:

  • Next to your respawn point. Put it beside the sleeping bag or bed you spawn on, so you heal faster right after a death.
  • In your crafting room. You stand at the workbench and the tool cupboard for long stretches, so a table there gives you comfort while you work.
  • Inside, not outside. It is wood, so keep it away from windows and embrasures where someone could throw fire in.

The table is pure decor. It has no inventory slots, so it does not replace a storage box. If you want a base that looks lived in, pair it with chairs, rugs and wallpaper. For layouts that leave room for furniture, browse our Rust base designs or plan one in the base builder.

Recycle, Repair and Destroy a Table

Rust table recycle, repair and destroy: a monument recycler gives 50 wood or 60 wood when grid powered, a safe zone recycler gives 40 wood, the Power Plant red recycler gives 75 wood, a hammer repairs it for 50 wood and picks it up inside your tool cupboard range, and an enemy table burns
What you get back from a table.
RecyclerWood back
Monument recycler50 wood
Monument recycler on grid power60 wood
Power Plant red recycler75 wood
Safe zone recycler (Outpost, Bandit Camp)40 wood

Recycling a spare table is not worth a trip on its own, since it only gives wood back. It makes sense if you already have loot to recycle, or if you want to clear a looted table you have no use for after you learned the blueprint.

Repair: hit a damaged table with a hammer to repair it for 50 wood. Pick up: while you have building privilege, look at the table with a hammer and use the pick up option to get the item back.

Destroying an enemy table: Facepunch does not publish a health number for the table. It is a soft wooden deployable, so melee tools break it and fire burns it. A single molotov or a few fire arrows is the cheap way to clear one inside a base you raided. Never spend explosives on furniture.

Every Table in Rust Compared

Every table in Rust compared: the Table costs 100 wood for comfort, the Beach Table costs 100 wood from the Sunburn DLC, the Research Table costs 200 metal fragments and 20 scrap for blueprints, the Mixing Table costs 200 metal fragments and 100 stone for teas, the Clan Table costs 200 wood and 100 metal fragments for clans, the Engineering Workbench costs 500 wood and 100 metal fragments for electric blueprints, the Pool Table costs 200 wood and 10 cloth as a store item, and the Card Table is not craftable and runs poker at Bandit Camp
Every Rust item with “table” in its name.

Rust has a lot of items called tables, and most of them have nothing to do with comfort. Here is what each one does:

TableCostWorkbenchWhat it is for
Table100 woodNoneDecor and comfort
Beach Table100 woodNoneDecor, needs the Sunburn Pack DLC
Research Table200 metal fragments, 20 scrapLevel 1Turns items into blueprints
Mixing Table200 metal fragments, 100 stoneLevel 1Brews teas and other mixes
Clan Table200 wood, 100 metal fragmentsLevel 1Creates and manages clans
Engineering Workbench500 wood, 100 metal fragmentsLevel 1Electrical, water and car tech tree
Pool Table200 wood, 10 clothNoneDecor, only if you own the Steam item
Card TableNot craftable–Poker tables in the Bandit Camp casino
Frankenstein TableNot craftable–Halloween event, builds Frankenstein’s monster

If you came here looking for the table that unlocks blueprints, that is the Research Table, and the one for teas is the Mixing Table. The plain Table and the Beach Table are the only two that are just furniture. The Beach Table has the same 100 wood cost and the same craft times, and it is a default blueprint for anyone who owns the Sunburn Pack.

Rust Table Tips

Rust table tips: put it by your sleeping bags, comfort does not stack, craft it at a workbench for 15 seconds instead of 30, research a looted table for 20 scrap, keep it inside tool cupboard range so you can pick it up, and remember it is not storage
Get value from 100 wood.
  1. Put it by your bags. Comfort right where you respawn means you heal faster after every death.
  2. One good comfort source is enough. Comfort does not stack, so you do not need a table, a rug and a chair in the same spot.
  3. Craft it at a bench. It needs no workbench, but a Workbench 1 halves the craft time to 15 seconds.
  4. Research a looted one. 20 scrap at the research table, and you skip the tech tree path in front of it.
  5. Keep it inside TC range. You can only pick it up with building privilege, so place it in a room your cupboard covers.
  6. It is not storage. Use a wooden box for your loot. The table has no inventory.

Furniture is a small part of a base. The part that decides whether you keep it is your walls, doors and upkeep, so check what your base costs to keep running in the upkeep calculator and read how decay works. And before you spend wood on decor, check when the next Rust force wipe is, so you know how long your base has to last.
